It has been a long time

Its almost an year i last logged in and wrote a blog post. So many significant things happened in the last year..and this year. Life is getting more and more busy and finding time for pursing hobbies, passion and art is getting harder and harder. Its almost a luxury these days. Right now its diwali time and i just found a quiet corner of my home and all thoughts waiting to get poured on paper or blog from last year/month/week have gathered up..just dont know from where to start…

Ok..let me start by wishing you all a happy diwali. May you have awesome time and great fun ahead. Not preaching you of stopping use of fireworks or any moral policing..but sure to say that we must do and enjoy stuff with caution and moderation, self moderation to be precise. Too much of anything is not good 🙂

Coming back to blog posts – sure theres pretty much eventful stuff happening..be it in politics or be it in technology. I am no expert in social science or politics but technology..yes..i can understand a bit of it more then average person..so expect future posts to be technoiillogy related.

I guess this much is enough for now. Hope i write the next blog post soon 🙂

Till then – be good. be happy. be awesome.

    Why I quit Facebook – NYPOST.com

social networks are publicizing personal emotions and creating a kind of vacuum that literally is sucking everything you have got and showing to to public. and worse, you are appreciating this fact.

already we have got huge information overload. not sure where facebook will lead us. in India, Orkut was actively used in 2005-08..facebook killed it. Now who will kill +facebook in what way remains to be seen.

    Why I quit Facebook – NYPOST.com.

Swine flue in Pune, India, some reasons and questions

    Everything is justified.

However, India is more prone to any kind of epidemics because of the inherent unclean habits the common people have.

Add to it the careless attitude of people who actually are supposed to work on complex issues. The recent epidemic wouldent have had been so grave if the airport authorities would have done a more strict check of the people coming from abroad..what did they do? Just filled up a form saying that we are safe..some infected blokes slipped in the city, mixed with people and today, after 10 lives gone, we are wondering from where did it all start..!!

    Nuts..isent it??

    And one more thing..

This swine flue isent a joke anymore we sit and analyse it esp the punekar way..

Some families have lost their children, working men. This loss cant be justified. At this point of time, we all should support them. We need to realize the gravity of this issue.

Lets not take it like ‘just-another-thing’

Ignorance is a deadly sin, and we are paying for it.

Some things that came in this light

    1. Where is Sharad Pawar, the head of National Disaster Management Committee which was set in Mumbai 2005 floods? I think the old guy needs to divert his attention from ICC to India. People are dying, food is becoming expensive and this guy..what is he doing??

    2. Where is Suresh Kalmadi? This man is invisible since the Deepak Mankar incident, and even during the swine flu epidemic, he hasent come across to punekars? Is this what we have elected him for?

    3. Is this a plot of a foreign power to disrupt the Indian software industry??

    4. The CM of MH is a MBA, he is supposed to have knowledge of how to manage things..but he missed it completely. Confused, Ignorant and Pathetic.. Asshok Chavan should sit in his house …

    5. Dont get out of home for at least 4 days.

The lesson learnt from Swine flue is – keep clean and make your city clean & green. Every where you can see lot of garbage particlarly in common places of Bhopal and other medium size city. This is a major havoc as compared to other contagious diseases in India. Most of the persons/localites are irresponsible towards thier surrounding environment.

    1 year

    It began last year..

    13 June 2008.

1 year exactly…So many things there I dont want to remember.

It ended..it had to..either this way or that..I am relieved it did..not the way I wanted, but still….Its over…forever..

    Happy Birthday Google..

    Google's 10th Birthday

    Google completes its 10 years, 28 September 1998 – 28 September 2008..

Starting from what was called  as ‘Dont be Evil’, Google today is the world’s largest database holding tonnes of secrets about people, their habbits, their thinking, their culture et al..

In the first 10 years, Google has introduced several user oriented web softwares that helped them remorph the IT industry..Initially, Google began its life as a simple web search engine no one could had imagined to be what is perheps an integral part of their computing experience. There are other players in this market, like MSN, Ask, the recent Cuil, but Google has outcasted them and I dont think there would be anything much left for anyone to try as far as Web search is concerned.

Long live Google, and dont forget, the privacy bomb’s ticking.. 😉

    Tips for Safe Chatting

Don’t chat about things that could enable a stranger to locate you. That includes your last name, the name of your school or workplace, the city you live in, and where you hang out.

Protect your info. Don’t put identifiable information in your user profile, including photos. What’s uploaded to the Internet can be downloaded and shared by everyone. Avoid posting photos that allow people to identify you, especially sexually suggestive images. Before uploading a photo, think about how you’d feel if it were seen by a parent, friend, or future employer.

Never meet with someone you encounter in a chat room unless you already know who they are.

    The Ego and the flames

Ego is bad. Very bad. And when you find someone more egoistic then you, then its extremely hard to describe how badly it hurts. What exactly hurts is not known, but somewhere within, deep inside there is pain..lot of pain..words can describe it…but its real and it exists.

I found  a new way to get over pain.

    1. I searched for all her conversations from the server. All the dialogs were intact on Gtalk, Gmail and Open Server.

    2. Brought a bundle of executive bond papers, the most expensive ones.

    3. Opened every conversation I had with her.

    4. Print was the command.

    5. Printing continued till the entire executive bond paper bundle became empty.

    6. Gathered all of them, and arranged them properly.

    7. Went on the terrace. Sprinkled some kerosene on it. 1 match stick was enough..

    8. As I watched the flames consuming the conversations I had with her, within my true self, something was feeling to be at peace. I think it was ego, maybe..

    9. Threw the matchbox in too…emptied the whole kerosene bottle..the eager flames were hungry for more..

    10. Felt much better. It was all over for me…One relation ended. I finally was at peace..The rage seemed pacified…

I hope things will be normal now. Slowly, but surely, I will be back. I am not a slave of my ego, but I cant promise anything if it gets hurt.

Well..I guess it wasent easy afterwards..I had purchased those expensive papers for taking printouts of the stamp collection I found on flickr…Later Dad inquired about those pages, and I nonchalantly told him -‘I set them on fire’..He was stunned..!! I had to hear many things…I had to apologize to him. Probably he knows the real reason, he’s just waiting for me to confess it…I will speak it out to him soon…

      Till then, alls well…

Ego is painful, you are so right. I had a big pain today, as my ego came up against my mothers. The worst thing about ego is that is implicitly hard to see in ourselves and easy to see in others. That is the nature of introspection, to reveal.

What is the greatest achievement of one’s life??

Best Answer – Chosen by Voters

The sense of achievement is different for various people
    Example
    1. For a mother – To hear the first word from her child
    2. For a father – The feeling of becoming a ‘father’
    3. For a Old person – When his great grand sons hugs him and says “How are you?”
    4. For a artist – The joy and thril in creating a master peice
    5. For 99% of us – Getting money, marry good looking girl we always like, keep mom and dad happy, bring up a child, help him to grow, expect good from him, and so on…..

We can go for many pages, but I am feeling sleepy right now.

    Good night

Before I sleep, a little prayer towards God.

    Oh God….
Thank thee for the wonderful things that you gave me today.

    The New Age dilemma

    • S: (n) dilemma, quandary (state of uncertainty or perplexity especially as requiring a choice between equally unfavorable options)

I have discovered a new ego bruising experience. If you are a single individual, and having lot of virtual girl friends on social networking tools like Orkut, then you might have noticed that whenever the girls status changes to ‘commited’ there is something, a sort of silent tiing that goes across the mind..It isent exactly pain or unhappiness, its something mix of surprise, shock, bruised ego and just like that…

No actual reason why this happens, but fair enough, so many times I have preached to people – Digital Social Networks esp Orkut are a fun, playway mirror of our daily lives, but the real problem arises when we start relating those tools with our real life and begin attaching our emotions and expectations to our virtual meetings. A timepass turns trouble for some. Should Orkut/Facebook/Myspace be avoided? Or is it the beginning of a new age desperation? Boy…this things tough to comprehend…Web 2.0 has binded people togather on a common platform but no ones ever thinking of the trouble that is following us..Wake up…Welcome to the new age dilemma.

    Enlightment,a new hope

Men are haunted by the Future. Men are haunted by the vastness of eternity. And so we ask ourselves: will our actions echo across the centuries? Will strangers hear our names long after we are gone, and wonder who we were, how bravely we fought, how fiercely we loved?

I call myself a Peaceful Warrior… because the battles I fight are on the inside..

All Karmas proceed with the force to either remove pain or gain pleasure
Experiencing pleasure and pain, we roam the streets of Samsara

Where there is Birth, there will be certain pain
There is certain Death, and nothing to gain

Not knowing light from darkness we roam the streets of misery
    In beauty there is ugliness
In ugliness I see beauty too
What a repulsive body that I have which oozes grime and filth
These carnal desires do I find unfulfilling

Where there is Birth, there will be certain pain
There is certain Death, and nothing to gain

    Sadashiva Samarambham Shankaracharya Madhyamam
    Asmadacharya Paryantam Vande Guru Paramparam

    Finally the Truth is seen
Unknowable once to me but now known to me
What an error it is to take myself to be what I am not

    No words can reveal me
Yet words alone set me free
The beatitude revealed through desciplic succession

    No delusion for me
    I am the ever free
    No illusion for me
    I am the ever free

Finally, the desires are Ash, I smear those ashes on my forehead and I free myself. Bhasma on my body..Bhasma on my soul..I am liberated….the Pain turns to Love….a new hope..Maya reveals her true form…

    Maya is inevitable…

    I submit myself to Maya..

    Maya has set me free…

    The revelations are known…

    May there be peace..

As one of the noble truths of buddha say,

all human existence is painful, eliminate the pain by eliminating the cause.

Buddha was suffering from acute depression…But do you know that Buddhas teachings did protect Indian sub continent from maniac Mongols till 1962 India China wars??

The only way to prevent any sorts of conflicts is to accept the things as they come to you without asking for its purpose or to think about its consequences. The only truth is the Desires we have with us. Denying Desires for some imaginary reasons is root cause of sorrow, and its funny that in todays marketing age, people can cash on sorrow too..if you can cash it on, sorrow is fine, else submit yourself to Maya unconditionally, rest assured, everything works in your favour…

You were the one I was dreaming all my life..You were my rain, you were the Sun, I needed both, because I needed you..Words are poor substitutes for feelings, specifically those feelings which are intense, at the same time too complex…But now what remains is the Ashes…The Ashes of Desires…The word cruel is too overused, how can people be so cruel? Why? What makes them behave so brutally? Am I always wrong in learning people? How can it be? She was so beautiful…I remember..it was cold November..leaves were falling..life was a dream…Today my dreams are lost, but I thank God for the little chance he gave me to have those wonderful experiences. Thank You God, I used to see you through her. Bless her.

    Poem is stolen from here.

Dedicated to my lost love – Honey, I loved you immensely

Every time u call i freeze
When your close to me i feel a chilly breeze
I know something is not right
Could u b the one making me feel so tight

    I didn’t use to like u
But now could it b true..
Am i falling in love with u?

So innocent, so sweet and surreal
Casting a swirling aura around us
    Turquoise eyes drowning and drenched
    Within the angelic love song

The hearts had met to one mystic soul
Wanted to feel this forever and ever
Never to cease and fade, never to wane
My love I always felt , would always
Last till the end of the time.

I agree that this short peom isent mine, I take no credits for it. I dont know who’s written it, but what matters is that its an apt example of whats going through my mind..Normally I dont speak mushy, but now I am letting it out in public.

Honey, listen to me, you may never know or understand  it, but if you  read this, I confess that I loved you more then anything else. True we may never meet, but if I could show you what true love was, then its this….My words are turning empty, but the feelings arent…Dear God, if you get time from you daily chores, can you please listen up a prayer I sent for her? Keep her happy. Just keep her happy, I know what pain is like, but I wish she remains happy. She retaught me the purpose of life. Those beautiful moments she passed with me make me feel heaven. I have no complaints with what happened, nor I care a damn about whats gonna take place, but the fact is, I am in deep love, I am rediscovering myself in a form previously unknown to me..

Gosh, these feelings….let the rain come down and wash away my tears, let it shatter the walls and drown my fears..I feel as if I had been kissed by an angel of Love..A new day …has come…..

To all those boozing hounds and enemies of Love and haters of God, non believers in Love – This post is not meant for you. Not at all for you. If you are the pathetic and immature souls whose concepts are fake as that of Maya, get a life..shoo away, you get it, just fly away..hide yourself into deepest dark oceans or infinite space..Go….!!!!

Disclaimer While the people I write about are real, the experiences I post here may or may not be real and related to people I know. Its just my thoughts I have spoken to myself. If anyone of you finds a co-incidence, then rejoice…maybe I have taken some inspiration from you..And honestly, I do not hate anyone in life, even if you have managed to break my heart, you know that I am a brave soul 😉 Maybe 10 years from now I look back and say – O boy, I was so mad, crazy at times, I dont know. We are all strong and weak at times. So dont mind anything, just read, enjoy and move on with life

    Good Grief

This heartbreak hangover has continued for fairly long time, I mean its more then a week I havent been able to pick my spirits up. In one point of view, everything appears as a dead end, especially in this fast globalized ultramodern age, with so much technology and gadgets around, who would bother to wait and listen? Its such a fast paced world. Friendship made and broken in seconds, split seconds without batting an eyelid, On the other hand, the mind, the frenziness of emotions and feelings tell an otherwise story. Whom to really care for? Inspite of technology, the communication and understanding gap still prevails between people. This comes to notice specifically when one apologizes to a girl by making use of email/sms/chat combo. Even a guy advised me to meet her and sort it out. Boy, I had that courage and might, then probably I wouldent even have these bad feelings get into my way. This is Karma, we attach our emotions with so many people really without knowing the consequence of what will happen in future. Some blokes I know are pretty calculated individuals, they do not allow emotions to get in their way, call it a professional approach of sort.

This incident taught me many things.

    1. No matter how much rich your dad is, a gurl will first look at you and your capabilities. Atleast the one who analyses you for a long time dosent get impressed by the prizes you won, she looks at the job and the yearly package. No other impression ever works.. 😦

    2. Surrounded by technology, we might get a feel of being a technocrat or whatever, but primitive feelings like emotions, rage, jealousy still exist. By no means we can avoid it. The forms and definations of ego might have changed, but it still continues to hurt as hell.

    3. Love hurts. In every age Love hurts. It has hurted me a lot. I dont know if I am mature enough to understand its true meaning, but the seen consequence makes me wonder – I am freaky enough to be loved?I am an equally loved and hated guy, I remember most of those occasions when I was hated..

Gosh darn those status lines on my Gtalk – Love and Hate are one and all, sacrifice soon turns to revenge..

A girl may not find these lines romantic enough, especially when shes commited to someone else. She will take it as an ominous sign of flirting, and bang, thats the end of all relations..no amount of apologies work, meeting is impossible, no truce…no peace, direct attack…what else??

    4. If you have been hurt before in relations, its wisdom to avoid complications in first place itself. If any jilted lover is reading this, I would advise – Avoid relations that do not exist. Example – A fragile relation that occured during a meeting over in social networking tools like MySpace, Orkut, FaceBook etc. These relations are never serious, they do not have any name, Modern pundits call it cyber relations, I dont have any good name for it. I mean its crazy concept to even think of attaching a name and emotions to a thing that exists in electronic world. Its true that sentimental fools like me are fond of attaching their feelings to the most ridiculous and insignificant things that exist in this world, its difficult at times. Here, every occasional hi, hello is a symbol of friendship, and every relation is apparantly a permanant one. Madness in all respect….I am a mad person who has got a provan track record of being in madly with love with girls I know I would never get to see, to touch, to talk and so on…This is my flaw, and I seriously need to get over it. My ex girl friend said that she avoided me because I did not had a ‘pure’ friendship with her. If I know that saying hello to her in wee hours of morning can spell as disaster I am suffering from, I would have avoided it. I am going to avoid it all togather throughout my life. Never send a girl an sms that can spoil your party. Controversies are never comfortable…

    5. Even if sacrifice may turn to revenge, you may not see the face who would say ‘I love you, I will kill you, but I will love you forever’ (Sobs…Sobs…..Tears…Sniff) I didnt 😦 Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa…….

I will update this if my girl replies back to me, else think this as the end of this post (and my spoilt relation as well ) Hey Girl, dont mind, I will still continue loving you..Pure love knows no limits   😦   (Sic..Snifff…)

      @ Adi

Hi Adi. I met her. I apologized using all the words I knew till today, but she didnt like my new role of a jilted lover. I asked her if our relations would be right as they were earlier, she indirectly said ‘No.’ If this wasent enough, as per expectations, she informed me that shes getting married soon…I could do nothing more but nevertheless, I congratulated her. That was the only option I had, nothing more we can do. Relations are a crazy thing.

Age of Lonliness is bad enough, and someone telling you that you are lonly is more bad then ever….

I can’t agree more. Love hurts. Avoid relations that do not exist. Example – A fragile relation that occured during a meeting over in social networking tools like MySpace, Orkut, FaceBook etc. My last messy relationship started from Skype. And here I am now with my grief. *sob sob*
      Cheer up dude!

    Why! …

    I was childish and unfair
    To you, my only friend
I regret, but now it’s too late

    I can’t show you anymore
The things I’ve learned from you
Cause life just took you away

    And I’m asking why! …
    And I’m asking why! …
    Nobody gives an answer
    I’m just asking why

    But someday we’ll meet again
    And I’ll ask you

And I’ll ask you why! …
Why it has to be like this
    I’m asking you why
    Please give me an answer

    Many years and stupid fights
    Till we accept to see
How it was and it’ll always be

Why it has to be like this
    Why we don’t realize
Why we’re too blind to see the one
    Who’s always on our side

    And I’m asking why! …
    And I’m asking why! …
    Nobody gives an answer
    I’m just asking why

    Just tell me why! …
Why it has to be like this
    That the good ones disappear
    I’m asking you why

    And I’m asking why! …
    And I’m asking why! …
    Nobody gives an answer
    I’m just asking why

    And I’m asking why! …

A practical approach for blocking Orkut and saving trouble

From the past few days theIndian media is in all sorts of frenzy, displaying the news and reports telling that Indian government has instructed CERT India to ‘ban’ Orkut access primarily because,

    1. Indian authorities believe that Orkut allowes creation of flame communities that pack enough ammunation to set cities on fire and a punch that hurts the fragile ego of icon worshippers.

    2. Orkut is a place where loners waste their bandwidth hunting for girls, their personal details, a photograph or pieces of vital info.

    3. Orkuts a facinating place where you can abuse anyone, yes anyone, ranging from George Dubya Bush to the local administration without the fear of getting in line of fire. Although too much abusing or ranting can lead to your profile or community being marked as fake. But why bother , you can create plenty of fake accounts.

    4. Orkut is also a place where one can secretly plan their next rave party without the cops noticing it.

Actually, I am not sure that this is what the government or authorities think of, but these all activites are being carried out on Orkut. No doubt about it. And I also know that the democratic government of India will try as little as possible to ‘ban’ it, afterall, the govt has so many daunting tasks ahead of them, be it the election of new president after Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, the Chinese theat claims over Arunachal Pradesh, the rising value of ruppee against the US dollor(Huh, isent this thing funny? The rise of ruppee against dollor is extremely conducive to the booming Indian economy, but is a warning bell for the cheap service industry that is the home of US BPOs etc. Strange ways of economy. What to lose and what to keep?)

On top of it, people get mad each time they discover that Orkut is being misused by sadistic outfits for achieving their targets. Orkut certainly gives a nice facility to create various groups and read a wide audience, but is it vitally necessary to get involved in Orkut to a level where we find it difficult to communication without the digital network? I mean the analog social network, the real one is much more good option.

Some reasons for Orkuts wide misuse

    1. It allows creation of fake profiles and hate communities. Although theres provision for reporting it as bogus, the procedure isent foolproof. It can work either ways. Using this facility, someone can report a persons profile as bogus, even though that individual may be posting the truth. Who is to decide that the validity and quality of contents posted are in interest of community or no? Tough job, AI hasent reached this height as of now.

    2. People have to learn to exist in digital world. Even if the digital world is limited to a few dark servers placed on unknown datacenters, the impact they cause on real lifes can be damaging. It cannot be blamed on any digital network. People carry their personality, their good, bad attributes, imperfections, ideologies where ever they go. When this happens, usually theres trouble, leading to unstability.

Inspite of everything, Orkut wont be ‘banned’, no one except the Chinese govt has the courage to ‘ban’ Google, but I still think that Orkut needs to be ‘blocked’ in offices, corporations, at place of work, school, colleges, government sections, public places etc. Doing this will be more feasible. Majority of well known companies block access to Orkut site, the reason is very simple – Dont want to distract the employees attention from work, and dont want to get into any legal trouble because of any employees miscreant activies.

In schools and colleges, we go to study and not surf the web. Its common sense. We dont want to expose students to ill effects of bad company.

So, that leaves us to homes. Yes, at home, we are free to do  anything. Access Orkut from your home.

Moral of the story – Orkut cannot be ‘banned’ in India but it certainly can be ‘blocked’ by using proxy servers. Any digital social network can be a great tool to explore the world around us, but till the time we dont find a common unified way of understanding the ‘real’ world, we might face these problems forever.

And as usual, as far as I am concerned, I personally feel that there are lot of other problems in this world that need a top priority attention example – Global Warming, Rise of terrorist outfits etc. It makes little sense to quarrel and argue over a damm freaky Orkut.

    The Digital (Anti)Social Networks

    Digital (Anti) Social Networks

Tired of getting friend requests from MySpace, TagWorld, Friendster, TypePad, Skype, AIM, Yahoo!, Chia Friend, LinkedIn, MSN, TextAmerica, Upcoming, Digg, Google, 30 Boxes, Second Life, Plaxo, Zooomr, ICQ, Flickr, LiveJournal, Dogster, dodgeball, Backwash, BuddyBridge, FriendFan, Classmates, Buzznet, ReferNet… not to mention Friend Surfer, friendsand, Friends of Friends, friendsbay.de, Friends of Friends, Friends Reunited, Friendoo, Friendset, Friendsync, Friendity, Friendzy… and a million others… Tyrone J. Walrustitty put the following text on his Geocities homepage:

Dear “Friend,” I don’t want to join [insert Web site name here]. I hate social networks. Hate ‘em! I’m tired of you sending these damn invitations to me. If you do it again, I’m going to stop being your friend – because inviting me to yet another social network that doesn’t interest me simply isn’t a very friendly thing to do. If I’m already on the social networks that you’re already on, I have no problem in connecting with you there. As it stands, however, my tolerance for social networks is turning me anti-social. If I add one more social network to my social network network, I’m truly going to go social on yo’ ass.

Based on this simple idea, Tyrone launched Hermitster, raised $8.2 billion in funding, and sold the property to Rupert Murderock for well over a trillion dollars.

Umm…after observing the bad effects of tools like Orkut, Myspace, Ryze(Does it exist ?), I guess its time now to quit the ‘digital’ social networking tools…

Pune rural police crack a rave party

    Update on 6 Oct 2008

Vishwas Nangre Patil  on early Monday raided a rave party at a pub in Juhu area and detained 240 young men and women after seizing a large quantity of drugs.

According to a police official, the raid at Mumbai 72 Degree East, yielded over 100 tablets of ecstasy drugs and other narcotics like heroine, LSD and cocaine.

The official said that a filmmaker is one of the co-owners of the pub. That film maker is Mr Shakti Kapoor.

Among the detained include son of a Bollywood actor, 40 young women and a couple of foreign nationals.

Eight drug dealers who were present on the premises have been arrested.

If we observe the list, we will find a number of people well inside their thirties. Fast growing IT and service industry has no doubt increased the income of many, but at the same time, has caused the ‘evil’ elements of quick money to rise..The number of girls caught have raised various social issues that need to be addressed and resolved soon.

Actually, the disturbing fact found in this crackdown was the use of digital social networking tool – Orkut, which was used as a means of communication between peer groups. According to me, now its high time that Google bring an Indianized version of Orkut example – http://www.orkut.co.in which will function mostly for Indian users and will comply by Indian legal codes.

Is the purity of Pune muddled? Who can answer this?

A brief Update March 7, 2007 – Majority of the convicts have been bailed out, while some have been booked under illegal drug trafficing and various other charges. It was not very good to see that arrogant parents and their equeally arrogant idiots were blaming the ‘media’ for the damage..Hmph…what a bunch of jerks…

The latest in this case on 7 April 07

The drug test gave positive results for 249 convicts out of the 288 arrested. Thats quite high percentage. Hmm..tough deal, lifes isent a joke. 😛

Yes, definitely this mass communication(orkut) was used wrongly. And definitely muddled our pune. But we can’t held any site responsible for this as every thing have two faces like coin. Its only upto people how they are going to make use of this? And then only the endresult can tell whether it proves a boon or a curse for the society.

Harshad, Rave Party is wrong english, theres no such thing as a Rave Party. It is a Rave and something like a party. Anyway its sad to know that you think the parents are a bunch of Jerks, because if you do some research on what the Media and Police found 1500 bottles of phenyl hydrocholride? do you know what that is….its no drug, check the contents of a bottle called ikul available at any medical shop, its no drug.

im refering to the article that can be found here fractalenlightenment.blogspot.com/2007/03/holi-festival-of-spring.html

Another thing, when the whole of India is drinking bhang, which is made out of ganja and is illegal, the government chooses to arrest 200 kids who are doing the same thing.

So next time Harshad, put in some research before you give us your opinion.

      Cheers!

I guess that what you are trying to tell me can be quite inflammatory and I am not the right person to answer that in this forum..Its apparent that you might know who was responsible for that, it would be actually much better if you can approach them and enquire…Period

Maybe you need to exercise your grey cells a lil’ more and observe that the 250-9 convicts were real jerks..the ignorant jerks, who do not have a common sense and beleive that they are innocent..

They arent innocent..they are ignorant. Ignorance is a deadly crime. The ignorance of attending a party which wasent legal..ignorance of not knowing who the organizer was and what was his background..ignorance of the fact that the place where the party was supposed to be conducted is an agriculture land, where any other bussiness, other then farming is banned by law??

Ha..this is a best exmple I have ever seen having so many ignorant jerks around..Serves them good. 😀

Your statement in the previous comment – ‘Another thing, when the whole of India is drinking bhang, which is made out of ganja and is illegal, the government chooses to arrest 200 kids who are doing the same thing.’ is based upon completely primitive assumptions, which may not be true in all cases of special reason.

      For primates supporting rave party
I observed that there is a certain forum, full of unworthy apes, who have put on loud and time wasting arguments trying to explain me the stuff of rave party. Who cares to read all the crap??

However, its interesting to note and observe that there are so many people in this world still living in a stone age primitive mentality, seeking out solace in drugs and a crap termed as music to escape or get a break from the real world problems…Scared of reality and afraid to face work pressure Whatever… Mentally retarded jerks. 😛

      Now for the final thing
      1. Post up comment that shows your ignorance, idiotness and arrogance, it will get marked as spam the next moment.
      2. Send me foolish mails, I will definately mark it as spam.
      3. Dont forget – Spamming is not a good thing. You have been warned.

Banning / Suppressing orkut is not a solution. Things don’t work that way. The right solution is to punish the drug consumers and peddlers themselves, heavily. The justification for that is simple. If orkut goes down, some other site will come up. What will you then? Ban it too? But if people know that there are serious consequences to drug consumption and peddling, they will keep away from it.

Also, I will agree with the bhang point – allowing its consumption its wrong. Just because lots of people consume bhang, doesn’t mean that it is correct.

Several examples where people think that when everyone does something, it must be right-
      a) Sati (sure, before it was banned by the Brits, many thought it was right – now we all understand why it was wrong)
      b) Sealing drive in Delhi (just because everyones building illegaly, doesn’t mean that its correct)

We must identify what the real problem is and not get carried away in hype and rhetoric. For example, the real problem aren’t the plastic bags littering our streets. The real problem is the correct disposal of these bags. Banning plastics was the quick (read stupid) solution.

Finally the right to express oneself is one of the rights we value the most.

      Thanks,
      Rohit Kulshreshtha

I agree with Rohit Bhai…. one hundred percent!

In the similar lines, since evry body now thinks that drug consumers should be punished, it does not mean that IT IS RIGHT 🙂

the right to express oneself is one of the rights we value the most…EXACTLY.
“The right to do one’s chosen action, provided that its not going to affect anybody else’s lyf” is also one such rights. Wat say Harshad Bhai…?

How many are affected by this rave? How many have inconveniences becoz of this rave?

It’s a red herring on the cops part to raid the rave when there are several illegal activities to be addresses in mumbai-pune circle !!!

“The right to do one’s chosen action, provided that its not going to affect anybody else’s lyf”

In many cases that would be true. ‘Others’ would mind their own business. In this case, it does affect ‘other’ people’s lives. Drug addicts become slaves to their habit. When they need a dose, they need it bad. If the urge isn’t satisfied, they may go to any extent to fulfill it. Consumption of drugs can become the cause of violence, due to disinhibition. Hence, it is not as simple as minding one’s own business.

“How many are affected by this rave? How many have inconveniences becoz of this rave?”

Plenty. Just knowing that there are drug peddlers around would be enough to worry parents of teenagers. After all, which parent wants to see their child throw away his / her life for drugs? If India is shining, teenagers in India should take the opportunity and ride the wave.

“It’s a red herring on the cops part to raid the rave when there are several illegal activities to be addresses in mumbai-pune circle !!!”

      – Another case of “Its OK, others are doing it too.”. An illegal activity is illegal. Period. It needs to be checked and punished.

Tell me, at what point do we actually demand change?

      Hi,

I dont understand people always talk about banning the sites, internet and source of information. Why dont they understand, there are lots of good websites and communities available on the internet and orkut. Do they think, they are god?

Remember one thing, world changes always, there are bad things also and good things both. Bad things will go and good things will always remain.

That is the life. so be patients. Banning orkut is not solution.

The same thing with drugs. If you search, you will see almost every single things will have their drawbacks if you use it irresponsibliy. even the god.

In my opinion, We need to develop the culture to respect the people and communities.

i hear comparisons between bhang, as you put it, and a rave party and i am dismayed. firstly, bhang is not made from ganja as someone sems to think. it is ganja. or cannabisativa to be precise.
secondly, it is not a hallucinogen, it is not habit forming. it has a pharmocological efect that crosses the blood brain barrier intact, but causes no physiological dependence. something like lsd. therefore, it does not qualify as a drug. psychotropic substance, yes. drug? no.
and lastly, have any of you ever tried it?

you don’t wonder then where laws come from? they affect you, they affect us all, our entire lives. doesn’t it strike you as absurd that you could be jailed in excess of 5 years, without bail, for something that is no more harmful than the cigarrette its usually smoked in and technically isn’t even a drug.
as for rave parties, don’t know much about them, escept what i hear and read…never been to one. so no question of supporting them.

don’t oppose them either. the way i figure it, if the kids wanna get high, let them. all this talk of upholding the glorious indian culture and law and order doesn’t sit well with me.
after all, cultures evolve and evolve all the time. and ours is just one of many thousands that have flourished and will die out, eventually. and the law, though a means of enforcing order is a tool of repression, after all.
so no, i’m not, so to speak, in your camp. i’m an opposer. a ditracter. a traitor, because i think that for the most part, india is a godawful country. just as awful as any other. i am, a hippie. a tree hugger. a gay-lover. a pacifict. a nihilist. a marijuana enthusiast. a cultist, if you will. and only a rave party non-supporter, cause i’ve never been to one. if i did, i’ll likely support it. and above all someone, who doesn’t recognise the authority of the laws of this country or any other to curtail my freedoms.
did i mention, i also enjoy making people mad?

U consider urself havin morale values…just for an example consider the Taliban or SIMI or such anti social elements. They consider themselves as a moral brigade. That is because these group of religious fanatics and bigots consider themselves to be but they arent! U r just like them.Tryin to prove ur point through cheap activities. For example the long big crap u have posted up.
U also said that these people caught were not innocent but ignorant.Killing, raping, looting are crimes that are committed not because of mere ignorance but because of a mentality that is deep rooted in the criminal.Wat a young person has to suffer for being ignorant?? Names in the newspapers,on the internet, dont knw wat ndps laws on them, most of all their carrers.I can only ask u to be constructive on the issue.Thriving on a story like a maggot or a scavenger wont change anythin for good.U add no meaning to the word humanity.
And please Orkut is not antisocial site. The good has to be derived from it.Good shall always win!

This way, the drug manufacturing countries and mafia run their economy, in a way threatening World peace, culture and society.

That the ‘pursuit of happiness’ is not the only end to one’s life and that people like you are willing to take on the ulterior forces in our present society is a heartening wake-up call to all those out there who think that admonishing you is a quick ticket to glory. I am truly inspired and empowered by your stand and more importantly, say in the matter.

Police planning to ban Orkut in India

According to media reports, the Pune police is in full swing to ban Orkut, the Google owned digital social networking tool following its controversial communities and its probable role in anti social activities.

To a certain extent, I feel that there is a ‘real’ need in maintaining Orkut. Given its liberal policies, a madman can create real mess on Orkut by creating hate topics, insultive discussions and also spoil images of well known personalities. Its sort of a free ground for cheap and unconstructive publicity. And after the recent blasts, things are turning pretty hot.

But is banning a solution to this problem?

Nope. Given Googles brand influence, I dont think it will be practically possible. Even if the police dont succumb to the influence of any media, there still will be a wide disarray among the ‘anti-social’ elements in the society. Only China is the state which officially monitors Google content. So much so the my blog – The First Tones of Freedom cannot be viewed on any Chinese ISP, sole reason being the word – Freedom, I preach about the importance of Freedom and Liberty in life..

Anyway – A middle path should be adopted and Orkut should make use of a better ‘Report as Bogus’ system. I mean its ridiculous the way things are handled as of now. Things will be clear in a few days.

Banning Orkut just because anti-social activities are being carried out is totally ridiculous. Why not our Govt rather ask Google to monitor the content being posted there?? If measures have to be taken so crud, then everything right from emails to blogs to chats must be closed!

That way our nation will be soon back to technology “zeroes” rather than the “zeroes and ones”! ORKUT SHOULD NOT BE BANNED!

I dont think that orkut will be banned throughout India, as its virtually impossible. Had we been living in China, where the government is very cruel, I guess this move would have given some results.

However, in many companies, the employees are not allowed to use Orkut and many private companies ban Orkut during office hours.

The motive is to gain the fabulous sensuous pleasures & Rewards ( 72 virgins & all luxuries etc for each ) promised for them & their families too in the KORAN. To know more about it refer to the celebrated PENGUIN translation of Koran by NJ Dawood, or any other version or refer to Google. See Chapters(Sura/Verses) 56/(12 to 40),55/( 54 to 56),55/ (72to-74), 76/ (12 to 22), .This is the easiest way for dropouts, drifters, idlers & terminally ill to pass off in great glory as Martyrs & also benefit their families who only rejoice & never grieve for their death . Now even educated youths are being brainwashed to be more religious & do their” duty” by using sophisticated methods like- food & gas poisoning, nuclear blasts, aircraft sabotage, ship attacks, car bombing etc. to gain these sensuous rewards in Paradise .Thus most of them are silent members of ‘SLEEPER CELLS ‘ ready to act on their own. All muslims are not Jihadis but ALL Jihadis have proved as muslims. Is this not true ? Worldwide publicity should be given for this despicable hidden motive & the Radical Fundamentalist leaders must be made to denounce & deny these acts & issue a FATWA warning that their families will be outcasted , deported & lynched. They will never do it –as they are a party to it & are actually rejoicing after the killings.—-Your comments please—

I don’t feel Orkut should be banned in a democratic country like India. Banning Orkut is not a permanent solution to this problem, as the controversial postings can be made through other social networking sites and blogs too. The only difference is that, Orkut is a bit more popular.

There should be an official government organization to keep track of the content being displayed in different websites. The general public should be able to contact this organization through digital means, probably through website and complain about the content in websites, anonymously. If this government body finds that the content is inappropriate, they should contact the website owners and demand to remove the content within a feasible deadline time. If its not removed even after this, then it is reasonable to consider banning as an option….

Guys! Banning Orkut will not actually solve the problem. Yes of course it can solve problems on temporary basis. Ultimately education is something that can solve the problem.

People should attain maturity in things that they do. For which we need to be given the right education. Education does not start in schools or colleges, but starts at home. Parents should be paying attention to their children. Their activities need to be monitored and corrective measures should be taken.

This may sound like a long term project, however this can solve 99% of the problem.

Is Orkut a problem? or is it the people who are using it?

I read yours comments about orkut. and i m shocked that at this level it can be missuse.. if ppl hvnt sense of humanity then they have no right to make any relation with any one. because these are sites to join the loved ones….. bt these mammals are not able to use…. so i am also suggesting to ban….otherwise strict privacy should be there.

sir, I dont support that orkut should be banned in India but what I feel to some extent there is a risk in using orkut due to spam, spyware & hacking. There are some bad charecter people who are using orkut can do harm or hacking with other users account & profile because this is already happened with me. I am using orkut for the last two week but to my astonishment on yesterday dated 12 May, 2010 I found my own profile & name which I created in orkut has been missing & corrupted by another name of a girl along with a faceless photo of this girl. Who can do this thing ? However I
Am not a girl but a boy. My own profile has been missing.

Dont mess up with the kids.

Small kids, children are Gods most awesome creations. They posses an excellant mind that watches everything all around with great curiosity and innocence. We oft take some things for granted, but its a fact – Kids are the smartest bunch of individuals, who can take you by surprise, almost at the time when you least expect.

A few facts will clear up the concept.

7 reasons not to mess with children.

    1. A little girl was talking to her teacher about whales.

The teacher said it was physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human because even though it was a very large mammal its throat was very small.

The little girl stated that Jonah was swallowed by a whale.

Irritated, the teacher reiterated that a whale could not swallow a human; it was physically impossible.

The little girl said, “When I get to heaven I will ask Jonah”.

The teacher asked, “What if Jonah went to hell?”

The little girl replied, “Then you ask him”.

2 . A Kindergarten teacher was observing her classroom of children while they were drawing. She would occasionally walk around to see each child’s work.

As she got to one little girl who was working diligently, she asked what the drawing was.

The girl replied, “I’m drawing God.”

The teacher paused and said, “But no one knows what God looks like.”

Without missing a beat, or looking up from her drawing, the girl: replied, “They will in a minute.”

    3. A Sunday school teacher was discussing the Ten Commandments with her five and six year olds.

After explaining the commandment to “honor” thy Father and thy Mother, she asked, “Is there a commandment that teaches us how to treat our brothers and sisters?”

Without missing a beat one little boy (the oldest of a family) answered, “Thou shall not kill.”

    4. One day a little girl was sitting and watching her mother do the dishes at the kitchen sink. She suddenly noticed that her mother had several strands of white hair sticking out in contrast on her brunette head.
She looked at her mother and inquisitively asked, “Why are some of your hairs white, Mom?”

Her mother replied, “Well, every time that you do something wrong and make me cry or unhappy, one of my hairs turns white.”

The little girl thought about this revelation for a while and then said, “Momma, how come ALL of grandma’s hairs are white?”

    5. The children had all been photographed, and the teacher was trying to persuade them each to buy a copy of the group picture.

“Just think how nice it will be to look at it when you are all grown up and say, ‘There’s Jennifer, she’s a lawyer,’ or ‘That’s Michael, He’s a doctor.’

A small voice at the back of the room rang out, “And there’s the teacher, she’s dead.”

    6. A teacher was giving a lesson on the circulation of the blood. Trying to make the matter clearer, she said, “Now, class, if I stood on my head, the blood, as you know, would run into it, and I would turn red in the face.”
    “Yes,” the class said.

“Then why is it that while I am standing upright in the ordinary position the blood doesn’t run into my feet?”

A little fellow shouted, “Cause your feet ain’t empty.”

    7. The children were lined up in the cafeteria of a Catholic elementary school for lunch. At the head of the table was a large pile of apples. The nun made a note, and posted on the apple tray: “Take only ONE. God is watching.”

Moving further along the lunch line, at the other end of the table was a large pile of chocolate chip cookies.

A child had written a note, “Take all you want. God is watching the apples.”

    Happy Birthday Orkut

    Orkuts third birthday

    Today is Orkuts 3rd birthday.

    The Beginning
Orkut was quietly launched on January 30, 2004 by Google, the search engine company.
Orkut Büyükkökten, a Turkish software engineer, developed it as an independent project while working at Google (required by its policy). Some discomfort with this exists among users and potential users of orkut, especially since Google’s other noteworthy product of 2004, the Web-based email client Gmail, had servers scan emails for keywords in order to deliver advertisements targeted at them, which sparked an idea that Google was “reading your email”.

While previously working for Affinity Engines, he had developed a similar system, InCircle, intended for use by university alumni groups. In late June 2004, Affinity Engines filed suit against Google, claiming that Büyükkökten and Google based orkut on inCircle code. The allegation is based on the presence of 9 identical bugs in orkut that also exist in InCircle. Originally, the orkut community was felt to be elite, because its membership is by invitation only. However, at the end of July 2004 orkut surpassed the 1,000,000 member mark, and at the end of September it surpassed the 2,000,000 mark.

While the intended invitation method was e-mail between two acquaintances, invitations to orkut are obtainable via the web with a bit of diligence or eBay, just like Gmail invites.
Orkut’s use as a social tool is complex, because various people frequently try to add strangers to their own pool of friends, more often than not just to increase the number indicating their number of friends next to their name in their profile. Many “add-me” communities exist, solely for this purpose. A large number of bogus, cloned, fake, invisible and “orphaned” profiles also exist.
    As of today; there are
    41,282,563 users on orkut.

    Speed and reliability
Orkut often is unavailable, producing a “Bad, bad server. ” error message — behavior consistent with that of an underpowered server under heavy load. The outages tend to occur during the day hours in the Americas, home of more than 80% of orkut users.

    Iranian censorship
Orkut was very popular in Iran, but the website is blocked by the government. As they say, this is due to national security issues, as orkut users have the ability to spread messages rapidly, but the government says it’s due to Islamic ethical issues about dating and match making. To get around this block, sites such as “orkutproxy.xom” (now defunct) were made for Iranian users. Other websites such as Groups likw Yahoo, Google have communities dedicated to receiving updates on the newest location of Iran’s orkut proxy. Though it was once possible to bypass governmental blockage of orkut, the site has closed its HTTPS pages on all anonymous proxies. Now it is almost impossible for ordinary users to visit this site inside Iran.

In August 2006 UAE followed the footsteps of Iran in blocking the site.

    Demographics of orkut
The latest information can be obtained from here.

Some prominent controversies faced by Orkut in these 3 years.

    1. Recently an Indian girl had filed a complaint against a boy who put up her fake profile along with abuses and profanities. But now its gone a step above a notice was issued by the Aurangabad bench of the Bombay High Court to Google’s social networking site Orkut, for spreading “hatred against India.” The Court responded to a public interest litigation (PIL) that took exception to a “We hate India’ community in Orkut. The community, set up by a *Russian, Miraslov Stankovic, states that it is against all those people who are against Pakistan. The community is about having a group of people who have enmity against India because of its oppressive and hostile approach, it says in the description of the community. The number of members of the community as on Thursday was 91, down from 100 the previous day.

    2. A case has been filed against ‘Orkut’ website at Pune for deplorable denigration of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Lord Rama. An assurance was given by the police to investigate the matter. The case has been filed under article 67 of Information Technology Act and article 505 of Indian Penal Code.

Actually, whatever may be the problems, its certain now that social networking groups have a long way to go. Lets wish Orkut a happy birthday and hope that it maintains a clean environment.

A very popular story about Orkut Büyükkökten is circulated on Orkut social networking site through mails and scraps. Its something like the follows

A guy lost his girlfriend in a train accident, but the gal’s name nowhere appeared in the dead list. This guy grew up n became IT technical architect in his late 20?s, achievement in itself!!He hired developers from the whole globe and plan to make a software where he could search for his gf through the web.Things went as planned n he found her, after losing millions of dollars and 3 long years!!

It was time to shut down the search operation, when the CEO of Google had a word with this guy n took over this application. This Software made a whopping 1 billion dollars profit in its first year, which we today know as ORKUT.

The guy’s name is ORKUT BUYUKKOTEN.Yes its named after him only.Today he is paid a hefty sum by Google for the things we do like scrapping. He is expected to b the richest person by 2009.ORKUT BUYUKKOTEN today has 13 assistants to monitor his scrapbook & 8 to monitor his friends-list. He gets around 20,000 friend-requests a day & about 85,000 scraps!!!

Some more cool facts about him

He gets $12 from Google when every person registers to this website.

    • He also gets $10 when you add somebody as a friend.
    • He gets $8 when your friend’s friend adds you as a friend & gets $6 if

anybody adds you as friend in the resulting chain.

    • He gets $5 when you scrap somebody & $4 when somebody scraps you.
    • He also gets $200 for each photograph you upload on Orkut.
    • He gets $2.5 when you add your friend in the crush-list or in the hot-list.
    • He gets $2 when you become somebody’s fan.
    • He gets $1.5 when somebody else becomes your fan.
    • He even gets $1 every time you logout of Orkut.
    • He gets $0.5 every time you just change your profile-photograph.
    • He also gets $0.5 every time you read your friend’s scrap-book & $0.5 every time

    you view your friend’s friend-list.

    “Moral of the story”?
LOSE U R GIRLFRIEND AND MAKE BILLIONS !!!!

I dont know if its real or unreal, its very much of a bollywood type thing. Who knows?? 😛

Dont believe me?? Well..you can take a look at Orkut Büyükkökten  (Orkuts) official profile on Orkut.. 😀

Here is a list of Orkut Büyükkökten s research papers

Dont get sade if you are not able to make any sense out of any of this material. I tell ye – You are not alone.. 😛

    Notes:

    • Not sure of origins. Information based on the profile.

Bush goes ballistic about other countries being evil and dangerous, because they have weapons of mass destruction. But, he insists on building up even a more deadly supply of nuclear arms right here in the US. What do you think? Is killing thousands of innocent civilians okay when you are doing a little government makeover?
What happened to us, people? When did we become such lemmings?
We have lost friends and influenced no one. No wonder most of the world thinks we suck. Thanks to what george bush has done to our country during the past three years, we do!

    Maps on Orkut

Today, 13 Sept 2006, 12:30 IST Google has now added an extra facility for Orkut users. Yup, its the much awaited Maps service allowing users to view their friends location. Please click here to view the snapshot I got…
I ask myself an obvious question – Was it necessary? I mean theres a more good friends mapping service called ‘frappr’ which already provides this functionality, and that too it uses Google Maps service…

Who cares…lets wait before seeing what Orkut gets more to beat MySpace.. 🙂
