    of free speech and bans

(PS – this post is not about a specific government or ideology or community, but a brief attempt to summarize what overall is happening is right or wrong) Technology is static concept..unable to move, unable to interact unless the dynamic concept of its users get involved in it.

Twitter, Facebook are good technologies meant to create digital connection and interactions between people who are otherwise hard to meet in real world.

    So far it is good.

But from past few months, things are getting complex for Indian government and Indian netizans. There have been specific cases where Indian government has urged social networks to monitor disturbing content being uploaded on sites. Here disturbing content means anything picture, post that contains offensive material to either disrupt social harmony (do we have it?)  or directly the government.

In unofficial way, Indian government is telling social networks to remove anything that it deems to believe to be offensive and can cause damage to governments image in peoples mind or worldwide.

Perfect step taken by Indian government..except that it is totally nonsense and wrong.

Some genius elements in Indian government totally fail to understand that they are playing a fools game by banning technology and curbing free speech ( which in unofficially non existent in today’s Indian society ), why cant they realize that instead of banning entire sites, or banning sms..they should target specific groups that are misusing technology to disrupt government functioning..

And this is where government fails miserably. There is no way government has any kind of system to monitor users..no intelligence can provide them information..or even if intelligence provides information, the government is rarely seen to act promptly on this..yesterday sushil kumar shinderevealed that home ministry had warned state government of possible riots in mumbai..as usual, state government waited till few crores of property was damaged and people on twitter got enough material to be angry for weeks..

Frankly..what is twitter ? It is just a microblogging site that allows people to post 140 character updates, allows people to follow, block, RT each other..thats all. This is static or fixed functionality of twitter. What probably inflammatory on it is the people who are using or misusing it for their purpose. this is the dynamic part of social network which needs attention

And just to prove me wrong..police, ie a government body has decided to target people and arrest them and remove their websites and content. Police have arrested Aseem Trivedi who was associated with IAC in their recent tussle with GOI..This linkwill provide more information..and the charges put against him are quite serious for anyone.

Is this the beginning of the end? Or a new beginning where all our probable fears will be proved to be true? What chaos and what challenges lies ahead?

    Time will tell..

    Why I quit Facebook – NYPOST.com

social networks are publicizing personal emotions and creating a kind of vacuum that literally is sucking everything you have got and showing to to public. and worse, you are appreciating this fact.

already we have got huge information overload. not sure where facebook will lead us. in India, Orkut was actively used in 2005-08..facebook killed it. Now who will kill +facebook in what way remains to be seen.

    a virtual life

These days we have got two social lives. One in real world and other in virtual world of social networks like Facebook and/or  Twitter.

I was reading an article of why Facebook causes a new stress on users. http://www.opposingviews.com/i/new-report-facebook-causes-stress-depression-anxiety  and http://www.switched.com/2011/02/16/facebook-causes-stress-anxiety-hooks-us-anyway/

An important finding from one of the posts is

Charles speculated that many users may feel anxious because of the site’s intrinsically self-centered structure. “It’s like being a mini news channel about yourself. The more people you have the more you feel there is an audience there,” Charles told the BBC. “You are almost a mini celebrity and the bigger the audience the more pressure you feel to produce something about yourself.”

In short, Facebook tries to create a virtual but fake celebrity out of users, whatever might their real life be. By including photos, videos, quotes, events, Facebook is  like more of someone PRO promoting your personal life..publishing your details to world.

But in the end, we should always remember that Facebook is a virtual world. Whenever you log into Facebook, you invest time, bandwidth and personal data in it..which is obviously not free. Remember not to get carried away by frenzy of getting a ‘celeb’ status. It is very easy on Facebook to get influenced by someone more elite then you and you can waste lot of positive energy attempting to be like them.

I found out some old tips that will help you to stay updated with everyone without getting bogged down by all the information Facebook hurls at you.

    1. RSS feeds – If you want to find out latest information about a product, technology, or anything, you just need to subscribe to their RSS feeds. A good thing about these feeds is that most of sites dont have ads in them, thus providing you with clutterless information. However, it might not take too long before companies bombard you with ads in RSS feeds

    2. Email – Email is the reason why internet became popular. IM or real time communication is taking fight against email, but there is no substitute for emails as yet. Answering emails is more easy and more natural then replying to real time IM…not only emails allow you to think before answering, it is also more productive due to push mail services that are available on handsets, computers etc.

    3. Be social in real life – It takes nothing extra to be nice with people..meet people. Maintain good relations with them. If you ever get into trouble, the real people you know will be the first to help you out.  Speaking and conversing with people  helps better then posting fancy updates.

    4. Facebook is not the ultimate goal – Facebook is just another way to share things, its not the ultimate communication or the end point of what communication will be like. As we are evolving, we might have advanced tools at our disposal.

Well it can be sorted and that stress kept at bay, if you don’t take yourself seriously 🙂

yeah. everything can be sorted out, but an individual needs to know how much stress to bear and how much to keep at bay.

social networks is just a phase we are passing . we all had a life before fb and i bet there will be life beyond fb as well 🙂

as a technology user and creator, facebook is quite marvelous in terms of accessibility, scalability and concept.

but how long will it grow selling users data to partners? at some point it will reach saturation point and this juggernaut will stop rolling. we will go back to days where mobile phone will be used as a mobile phone to call people and send sms.

it will take approx 8 years more and we will go back to normal life we had before 2005. a life before GPRS, broadband, blogs etc went mainstream.

      Hi
I am reading the Emperor of Maladies-just started actually, and have read about 50 pg only so far. So far the book has no reference to the ancient indian texts and curiosity about Ancient Indian comments or finding lead me (thanks to google) to your blog.
Then like other netizens i got diverted to reading your page on ancient vedic mantra that heal and cure.

Needless to mention, i am suitably intrigued by your views, and range of topics you are covering in these articles…

i will visit this again surely.,, inshallah..! our attention span is like a 2 yr olds these days .. as i write this vijay mallya’s assets are flashed on tv and the startling (well not so startling) fact is announced that his total debt to banks thru 6 of his companies is a whopping 14000 cr..
for a rich beyond words man, with 26 properties, a luxury mall, 200 horses, and 16 vintage cars … the king of goodtimes will go down in debt may be. but at the same time, i worry for the PSU bankers who financed such ventures, coz the witch hunting for them would be terrible…

anyway the mind is a potpourrie of millions of thoughts and so it flitted from the treatiseon cancer to our ancient indian scriptures, to power of yagna, to reading about your cheerful profile …….and then thanks to the audio-visual stimulant of tv- to mr mallya!!! au revoir…

Some freak economics a milkman taught me

Economics is a very facinating mix of theorotical science and practical art of managing money. Apart from spelling the word economics right, theres very little contribution to world economics from my side..

    until now..

Few days ago, one interesting bill was attached to our common notepad – It was the milkman bill..Out of utter curiosity, I looked at it and was staggered..!! It read that I had to pay almost 1000/- to the milk man, and the service charges were extra. Service charges in this case was the salary given to the milk delivering boy and some supply chain management costs..

I just calculated – The milkman gets approx 1000 rupees from my house. He delivers milk to adjoining 50 homes. On an average, a family needs 1 litre of milk everyday, and in Pune, the well known brand costs around 32 rupees a litre. So, in all, it works about 30×32 = Rs 960/- per home. Multiply it with 50 families, and the monthly income of the milkman is – 960×50 = 48000..!! The milkman automatically gets a decent discount from the milk supplier since he purchases them in bulk. The other cost is that of the milkboy who delivers those bags early in the morning..I am not sure how much salary he will fetch, lets assume he gets 2500/- pm. Most of the time that boy needs to invest 2 hours per morning and then continue study or any other activity. That leaves Mr Milkman the amount of almost  47000/- pm. Add to it there is no known and official service tax on doing this.Wow..aint that awesome? Add to it that our milkman does work in a bank apart from delivering milk, so this salary is extra to him…

    Incredible.!!

I read in papers that many freshers in engineering arent getting jobs and even if they land on one, they have to work as a trainee for well over 1.5 years till they start getting the standard salary. Add to it the cutting edge training costs these engineers invest in.

From the facts based above, I can safely say that I want to be a Milkman…instead of slogging in front of the computer writing cryptic and buggy software, its better I start something like this..!! Till few years ago, milk delivery man was just another poor mans job..today its turned to be a number one earning service with comparative less stress etc. Of course, even this field might have its own unknown risks, losses, and all that stuff, but did anyone ever look at the strange economy behind the scene??

    I dont know..

PS  – All figures are indicative, your milage may vary. I am an ignorant and untrained economist, so please forgive me if I make mistakes.. 😉

Harshad, no doubt that Milkmen are milking money like anything. But is that the only thing attached to it?

A milkman needs to buy a cow or buffalo. A price which will break even after 2-3 months. Adding to that he needs to develop the customer base which needs lot of marketing cost (though not much considering the company’s marketing cost).

Also, he needs to buy food for those cows and buffaloes. That will also get subtracted from his earnings. He needs to buy shampoos and soaps for washing those cattle. If the cattle get sick he needs to take them to veterinary doctor adding to the total expenditure and subtracting from the earnings.

This is not it, he needs to build a shed for them, keep the surrounding clean, milk the cattle (which is in fact the tough job, to milk the cattle).

If you calculate all these things you will get very restricted surplus. This all accounts for almost Rs. 10,000 monthly (some pluses or some minuses) so what he gets ultimately in hand is around Rs. 38,000.

But even then the earnings or profit he makes is hefty. But the hard work it needs to carry all these operations is very much. And if you really want to get into this business, you will not be able to perform all these tasks and for that you will have to hire someone who will share your profit.

And the main thing is this job or business is unstable and volatile. Because if you under-perform (that means if you don’t produce good quality of milk) the house where you are serving will ask you to stop serving them.

Now considering all these things, you tell me how good this job is.

    • Harshad Joshi 11:00 am on September 12, 2009 Permalink | Reply

      @Prasad

Well, you are partially right in this case.

The milkman I am talking about dosent maintain cows/buffaloes or goats.

Instead he maintains a heavy duty refridgerator and purchases milk packets in bulk from Chitale, who in turn maintain the milk supply chain and milk producing machinary.

Obviously I dont want to be Chitale, as its a very heavy invested business..

I want to be the local milk man who maintains an important position in milk supply chain, and he is the one who comes in direct contact with end customers.

The profits or expenditures I mentioned are that of the local milkman and not of Chitale or Katraj or Amul..

    • Prasad Kulkarni 2:40 pm on September 12, 2009 Permalink | Reply

OK, but still the profits you have mentioned have some sharing components. The bill of electricity he will get by using Fridge. Then there are other factors like, if he owns a place then fine, but if doesn’t own then the rent is added thing.

But he still manages to milk hefty profits.

    • Harshad Joshi 2:48 pm on September 12, 2009 Permalink | Reply

      @Prasad

Bang on..thats what I am trying ot convey that the milkaman is earning more taxfree profits we can ever imagine..

Add to the fact that no one ever asks the milkman for discount in milk bottle, say a rupee less, say Rs 31. We should all ask for discount, coz as it is we are going to purchase a guranteed 30 milkbottles from him, arent we supposed to get something in return??

Shit, this is very dirty politics played all around..! We are wasting money..!

      Save money.

    • subbu 7:47 pm on December 29, 2009 Permalink | Reply

The MilkMan gets his milk from another supplier. So doesn’t it mean he spends among the 48000 you had mentioned to procure that milk?

So its not as much profit as it may seem. Even if he gets the milk at 3/4 of its price he is left with 12000 for operations cost. Whatever is leftover of that is his profit.

I am new to this industry. I only started weeks ago and I can tell you that this is a rewarding business for two reasons; it can be and is for me connected to the sustainable agriculture movement today, and second reason; it is lucrative if you want to sell and market and are good at it. I happen to live in one of the most lucrative counties in the USA. And I project that this business first year with only myself can earn $220,000. That is within a 15 mile radius and with 1-2 towns. I plan to move onto the other towns in my county then into Manhattan, New York. we will train other people to be their own distributors. The Milkman Company will take care of marketing, some of the sales jobs, buying power, product knowledge, and other office administrations.

Watch for us in the industry. and watch for our Milkman delivery trucks. These same opportunities can exist for entrepreneurs in other regions of the State, the USA, and globally.

      Thank you.

Swine flue in Pune, India, some reasons and questions

    Everything is justified.

However, India is more prone to any kind of epidemics because of the inherent unclean habits the common people have.

Add to it the careless attitude of people who actually are supposed to work on complex issues. The recent epidemic wouldent have had been so grave if the airport authorities would have done a more strict check of the people coming from abroad..what did they do? Just filled up a form saying that we are safe..some infected blokes slipped in the city, mixed with people and today, after 10 lives gone, we are wondering from where did it all start..!!

    Nuts..isent it??

    And one more thing..

This swine flue isent a joke anymore we sit and analyse it esp the punekar way..

Some families have lost their children, working men. This loss cant be justified. At this point of time, we all should support them. We need to realize the gravity of this issue.

Lets not take it like ‘just-another-thing’

Ignorance is a deadly sin, and we are paying for it.

Some things that came in this light

    1. Where is Sharad Pawar, the head of National Disaster Management Committee which was set in Mumbai 2005 floods? I think the old guy needs to divert his attention from ICC to India. People are dying, food is becoming expensive and this guy..what is he doing??

    2. Where is Suresh Kalmadi? This man is invisible since the Deepak Mankar incident, and even during the swine flu epidemic, he hasent come across to punekars? Is this what we have elected him for?

    3. Is this a plot of a foreign power to disrupt the Indian software industry??

    4. The CM of MH is a MBA, he is supposed to have knowledge of how to manage things..but he missed it completely. Confused, Ignorant and Pathetic.. Asshok Chavan should sit in his house …

    5. Dont get out of home for at least 4 days.

The lesson learnt from Swine flue is – keep clean and make your city clean & green. Every where you can see lot of garbage particlarly in common places of Bhopal and other medium size city. This is a major havoc as compared to other contagious diseases in India. Most of the persons/localites are irresponsible towards thier surrounding environment.

The end brings a new beginning

    The end was actually hiding a new beginning in its sphere;

    darkness became the light,

the wind turned into the smell of fear…

2008 will end soon. Thank you to everyone who supported me. I had promised, even if this blog might stop for a while, the journey still continues…Some of you mailed me, some of you called me, I thank you. I wont pretend, but your words helped me a lot..

I cannot make you wait for too long..

You can now find me on Twitter – http://twitter.com/sevenlives

House on a tree..the zen way

This is a new venture by me into realms of unknown. I have tried to be honest while writing the Haiku, an art that is obscure, difficult to master, yet at the same time offers simple advice to the reader, the Zen way. At the same time, you can find humour, sarcasism, philosophy, rhythm a blend of everything…As a kid, I read a lot of Aesops Fables, Panchatantra, Indian legends, so expect to find the wise sages, the lonely Hermits, the houseless woods, speaking tigers, poisonous snakes, dangerous scorpions, smiling babies, everything that we encounter in our dreams and real life 🙂 .Sometimes you might not actually feel like reading a stereotype Haiku, but i have tried to preserve the ‘3 line rule’ , short is sweet..It offers me several advantages –

    1. It requires less time to write

    2. It helps to deliver the right message in right time

    3. Offers you lot of flexibility in reading, you dont need to be holed up forever in front of pc all the time..

What more I can say now? Its time you can go and read it. Mind you, its Twitter, microblogging has got some limitations, the Haikus I wrote still maintain a rough edge, but I havent tried to hide the naiveness, maybe it will help to end the learning phase a little more fast..Twitter cannot substitute WordPress, but for the timebeing, it serves well..

This is the sample of what you can expect

    People understand Tao

    People understand Zen

    Lying is a bad habit..

This Haiku is obviously meant to target all marketting mongers. They are all of the same catagory, they try to sell you anything making it appear useful, however you bring it, you realize, its a waste of resources. We all need to be careful. Dont invest into something that appears glamorous, glosy. Too much of shine can be harmful. Your money/time/resources are precious, use them wisely and dont succumb to any pressure. In todays age, where recession looms ahead, job cuts are round the corner, we need to make sure we act wisely.

    Or

    Peace and goodwill

    they are everlasting desires

Weak people have got no options…

Todays tough age demands more out of us. No one can afford to be weak and request help all the time. Its apparant that a weakling is a burdan in any society. Unless you are strong, you are firm, you will always stay at the mercy of others, thus making your life miserable and weak. A weak person always desires peaec, but he is unable to fight for it, thus living forever in grief..A lesson we learn from Indias IT sectors debacle – Depend on US for yor jobs, you will always be at the perils of anti outsourcing voices. Obama isent a good man who will work in your favour, making life easy for you. The time isent the same now. Its time to get tough and act accordingly..Develop your own technology and then sell it. Sooner or later the world will be at your feet.

    Ok, thats enough for now.

With all your blessings and compliments,

    I will be there again…

    See you on Twitter.

“A weak person always desires peaec, but he is unable to fight for it, thus living forever in grief.”

      Well said!
I am totally in agreement with above.
Besides IT, we in the engineering industry are also experiencing slow down . The Infrastructure business which was the flag ship business group of the company, is lying low. Customer who have once placed the orders, are not in position to take deliveries due to cash crunch. Infrastructure business in mostly dependent upon the World Bank Finance . When this source dries down, the going gets tough.

With all the Odds of 26/11 reminds me of this poem:-

      Still I Rise —–

You may write me down in history
      With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may trod me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I’ll rise.

      Does my sassiness upset you?
Why are you beset with gloom?
‘Cause I walk like I’ve got oil wells
      Pumping in my living room.

Just like moons and like suns,
      With the certainty of tides,
      Just like hopes springing high,
      Still I’ll rise.

Did you want to see me broken?
      Bowed head and lowered eyes?
      Shoulders falling down like teardrops.
      Weakened by my soulful cries.

      Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don’t you take it awful hard
‘Cause I laugh like I’ve got gold mines
Diggin’ in my own back yard.

You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I’ll rise.

      Does my sexiness upset you?
Does it come as a surprise
That I dance like I’ve got diamonds
At the meeting of my thighs?

Out of the huts of history’s shame
      I rise
Up from a past that’s rooted in pain
      I rise
I’m a black ocean, leaping and wide,
Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.
Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
      I rise
Into a daybreak that’s wondrously clear
      I rise
Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,
I am the dream and the hope of the slave.
      I rise
      I rise
      I rise.

Wish you all happy new year…

    Slowly walking out…

    goodbye..Good Bye....

    Hi everyone.

Whether you have come here by chance, hunting for something you need, or maybe Google/Yahoo! guided you here, or someone recommend you to visit this tiny blog, I want to thank you for visiting.

I think the time is coming, slowly but surely and I am honestly losing my motivation to write. I think I should stop this blog. I met many wonderful people througout these 2 years. I am thankful to them for all the support they gave me. This decision isent going to be very easy for me, but sometimes we have to make a tough mind and act accordingly.

Live life the way it should be. In your day to day interactions, you will come across many experiences, many people. Some of them give you moments to cherish about, some you may like to forget. Whatever the case might be, one mantra to make your life little more better. Be yourself, dont hide. Just believe in destiny, dont care what it says. Just believe in destiny. Love and trust atleast one person and make sure you both stay togather. Learn to forgive the people who mange to hurt you. Many of them do it unknowingly. Just identfy them. And importantly – People around you are like mirrors. They reflect to you what you actually are. If you are one of those actors loving to decieve people, automatically, the people closer to you are the same. If you are a kind hearted person, you will always have company of those people who need you most and you will also have collegues similar to you.

I could write more, but let some things be secret. You know it.

PS – If I regain my motivation, I defiantely will be back…but again, no gurantees.

    Till then,

    Adeos.

    Harshad Joshi.

    “तुझा mail आला ना कि एकदम माझे डोले लकाकतात.. i feel much better..i donno why पण एकदम relaxed वाटत.. कितीही रुसलीस ना तरी mail करत जा.. ”
    “plz चिडू नकोस ग.. बोल ना ग plzzz..”

    गेल ते सगळ..
    आता उरल्या त्या सगळ्याच्या आठवणी आणि.. आणि हे..

“i just dont love u.. that was my mistake.. now will u plz stop ths and live ur life n let me live mine..”

Life is like that, and no matter how brave I pretend to be sometimes, some things really left an indelible mark on me, although it was nothing earth breaking or nerve shatttering thing, maybe I was a bit changed.

Tip – I want to know who reads this post and finds it relevant.

Moral of the story – This post is dedicated to a wide spread misuse of chatting and instant messaging. I wish I post the real dialog I had, but today, I do not have any kind of feelings left with me, Life has taken a new turn and all the old griefs are dead… 🙂 For some strange reasons unknown to me, I have seen people behave like fools and they reason it for love, baah..There are very important things in life, and I do not think that a so called love is one of them..

I think this is the last post having a tag ‘Love’ on this little blog. 😀

Live in relationship is fine with Maharashtra Government

The Maharashtra Government headed by Congressman Vilasrao Deshmukh and his ministers have okayed live in relationship..Live in relationship means people of opposite sex can have a relation without legal binding like marriage..

Live in relationship might be common or acceptable in western countries, but by watching numerous Hindi films, thsi is what I have a concept of what might be called a bollywood lifestyle.

    1. Both, the girl and boy live in a seperate house, no parents to pester or poke their nose in their affairs..

    2. They can have sex anytime, in any way, and usually the girl dosent want to get pregnant, but unfortunately, she does become pregnant..

    3. Horrified, the guy leaves her and the poor girl, in tears, determines to raise the child..She cares a damm about others..

    4. Finally, a good common friend of the guy and gurl playes the role of Guardian Angel and decides to bring them togather..which is difficult..

    5. However, Mr Angel succeeds in bringing them togather, and everyones happy…

Hmm, this is perheps a little bit of a Bollywood Hindi film starring Saif Ali Khan and Preity Zinta. I found this film undoubtedly the most ridiculous thing i had ever seen, except of couple of Preity-Saif kisses(Wanted to see something more, Censor Board in India is dangerously strict..). But is this what the government wants in Maharashtra??

Actually, there are many people supporting age old marriage style and live in relations..

I am single and I have got no gurl friend, I will oppose it. If I had my girlfriend with me, I would have strongly welcomed it. I know, its double crossing, but this is what is life all about..India is widely known as a country with strong moral values and traditional integrity. Perhaps, that’s why bold exhibitions of romance go for a toss in such a typical society, least being something like live-in-relationships in India. The union of a man and a woman is considered as one of the most sacred acts in this country. No wonder, living together before marriage is a sour dampener for the staunch ethic upholders. However, the new millennium has ushered in great changes even within the country that has forever been enshrouded in a blanket of rich culture and heritage.

    To be continued…

But in case the original boy with whom she was living earlier comes back who has the right to the child? Complications could arise if the person later marries somebody and this girl cannot get any compensation.

its a matter of complete personal and individual choice. i dont see anything wrong or ridiculous or shameful in it. if the guy and the girl are adults, and are mature enough to take their decisions wisely knowing all the pros and the cons of the relationship then no one has the right to interfere or oppose their relationship. i have seen, read, heard people opposing it in the name of indian culture, ethics etc. which according to me is not an appropriate reason to object because then there are hundred thousands of things to object in the name of culture and ethics… our culture says “atithi devo bhava” which means that “our guest is like our god” but tourist women from the other countries are raped, duped and kidnapped! our ethics dont allow communalism but still every third day a temple or a church is demolished. our culture never allowed ill treatment of women but still women are considered just a sexual toy or birth giving machine! our culture doesnt allow child labour, corruption, child marriage and so many other things. all i would say is that be human, try and eradicate these black spots of our culture n our country and live in relationships wont harm our country or the culture or the ethics. live ans let live

      I second Harman’s view….

Honestly speaking, there are enough BASIC problems in India to take care of, rather than hampering personal freedom… and Obviously, couples deciding to live-in have enough brains to use contraceptive (condoms and Pills) while they are together… Unwanted pregnancies, one of major issues raised by people, don’t happen while couple live-in.. it happens when you forget contraception in the heat of passion… 😛

I just wonder, how come, Our Dear MNS chief hasn’t spoken about evils of live-in as its against Indian or rather maharashtrian culture…. Oh! i forgot, he’s busy grounding Jet Flights… who is already fighting the economic crunch!!
      LOL…OOps!!!

From thousands of years india has reflected to whole world its moral values and strong traditions which actually differs the india from other countries. I strongly oppose the views of harman and rashmi, as they have left the great indian culture.
it is not about getting bifurcated from the convention, but whether the particular bifurcation is correct with respect to all dimensions of life or not .today the youth (not all) have left the correct values of life, that is why they demand to have such kind of unethical relationships.in my view any work done by me which i can not share with my parents is the wrong. society (whether ancient or contemporary) has always tried to pump the populist, but bad traditons from any nook and corner, and that’s what they are doing in this case. in the name of so called “hamperring of freedom” they want to have sexual pleasures, those who can not go to red light areas or there ego confronts them actually evolved this methods of satisfying there sexual needs.

i know one thing that live in relationships will never deter any events against women but will only degrade the society.

I am not sure what the MH government has planned, but some people said that the government was trying to make a law which gives compensation to women in case her partner has abandoned her after a failed live in relationship. Its important to understand, that if a women gets pregnant in such a case, then who is liable to be called the father of that child? In a bid of saving grace, the government perheps wants to have a law that might help in prevention of woman exploitation in live-in relationships..Speaking in terms of legal practices, how to define what a live-in relation is?? Who will decide that its actually a live-in relation?? Is it enough that one guy and one girl stay together in one flat, and then without any paperwork or bond, its a legal live-in relationship? Or you need to have sex at least once so as to conform it as legal? What?? The complexities of this bill are more then what we can think…

I wonder, how many people actually opt for a ‘without marriage’, ‘without compulsion’ lifestyle in India? Very few to be precise..

There was no immediate need of introducing this bill as ther are so many other issues we are facing, like an economic meltdown in the making, poverty, high inflation rate, corruption, but politicos, who would prevent them from taking filmy hero steps?? Its said – ‘Prevention is better then cure’, why bothr preventing something thats higly unlikely to happen?? Maybe the govt thinks Live-in relationship is the next biggest problem looming ahead after the possible global economic meltdown…

      Jerks..!!

Mr. Pandey! You certainly are an “Idle” example of Indian Youth, who thinks visiting a prostitute and having unsafe sex is BETTER than having sex with a committed partner…!!

      😀

Good!!! India certainly needs PROGRESSIVE thinking like yours in this Economic Crunch …!! Sigh!!

Certainly, the Law is not as simple as it is made to sound!! Seemingly boom to the live-in female partner but nightmare for her boyfriend…. curse for a woman whose husband is having another live-in partner… This is certainly not the time to introduce it.. lets debate, talk, criticize, love, hate it…. introduction and passing will take years… may be when majority of our politicians will be of the next generation (age between 35-50)… not when majority of then are “senior citizens”

i am amply thankful to rashmi that you supporrted my view, specially about the thought…. lets debate, talk, criticize, love, hate it…. but the greatest irony in our country is that,.,.,., .any law is passed with out any prerectifications and public concensus, and the people like us outbursts our rage through these public networking sites, alas,…. what else we can do, except spreading public awareness.

I can’t believe some people are actually supporting this!

We need to draw a line in this westernization wave. Since the ancient time, marriage has been regarded a sacred element in India and Hinduism.

There is no credit in giving that up. The living together culture of the west has drove the divorce rate as close to as 50%. Indians take pride in having a strong & supporting family bond. Research has shown that kids that grow up with parents are more successful and confident than others.

If not culture then at least for the sake of the next generation we should keep the marriage tradition strong.

From thousands of years india has reflected to whole world its moral values and strong traditions which actually differs the india from other countries.

Can you gimme ten examples of “moral values” which INDIA has reflected to the world, well I will give u some examples of “moral” values

      Throwing garbage on the road
Jumping the red light and not following traffic disciplines
Rape and eve teasing of women
      Inter-religion fights
Fights related because of ones mother tongue

in my view any work done by me which i can not share with my parents is the wrong.

Each time you will have sex with your wife, are you going to “share” with you parents, if not then its unethical.

in the name of so called “hamperring of freedom” they want to have sexual pleasures, those who can not go to red light areas or there ego confronts them actually evolved this methods of satisfying there sexual needs.

So where and whats the problem in it. I think you are not getting an opportunity that why you are feeling so isolated.

guys forget it, its no use fighting about things that have happened. Laws are made & they are modified. Its up to us how we make the best use of it. And if we cant benefit from it, then damn the law. Do what u feel is right, as long as it doesnt harm anyone….

i second u. If a live-in-relationship goes wrong, anyone can simply walk outwithout much familial & no legal pressures.
Many people strongly connoted it encourages sexual promiscuity & infidelity. It would be good to ask them, if the sense of responsibility in an Indian marriage includes sexual responsibility.
Another prevelant belief of live-in-relationships fostering insecurity, particularly in women. One wonders if the most socially accepted ideas in India regarding women make them feel secure in any manner. The idea of women’s security itself is gendered.

indian history depends on script and culture, so there is no need of act lik livein relationship

    • rameshraju 7:36 am on May 26, 2009 Permalink | Reply

India has strongest family system in the world, only because of its rich culture and traditions. In Indian culture, marriage binds man and woman together through out life. The marriage institution is connected with ethics, epics, morals and emotions etc. But the high-salaries, growth of liberty, women empowerment, domestic violence, dowry harrasments, extra-marital affairs, and disinterest towards relgious epics are increasing the divorce rates in India.

As a result the youth are adapting Live in relationships. Infact, Live in relationship kills Indian rich culture and tradition. It is the high-tech adultery whch does not need any commitment and sacriment in Livein relationships. It is a conditional relationship which is free of religious rituals, ethics and morals. It is very fragile that it can break up at any point of time, even after having kids. The blood relations in it are uncertain. In western countries, there is no proper culture and family system and they change their spouses like changing clothes daily. I cannot appreciate MH government in its decision. If live-in-relationships are legalised, the marriage institution in india vanishes soon and India will go to dogs. If it is legalised, then public prostitution is no wrong.

      dear sir,

There are lots of advantages and disadvantages of live in relation between man and woman.

it is very true that a woman is always insecured this relationship,

but at time, and certain situations live in relationship can help.

The hindu culture which does not allow a widow or a seperated woman to remarry,in these situations either she is misled or misused by the society,at times they accept to become a call girl also.

I feel its better to accept a live in relation than being a call girl.
atleast she is with one person to take care off.

live in relation may also help women who are not married, above middle age, lost time due to various difficulties and reasons of marriage of culture/religion/rituals/rasi/dosha etc.

and women who need a male companion at later ages.because cannot help anyone but society will always like to pock their noses and interfere in others problems

and women who need a male companion at later ages for moral support. the so called society cannot help anyone, but society will always like to pock their noses and interfere in others problems.

Chill…I can assume what you are saying might be the best solution of this problem/situation etc, but alas, I am unable to comprehend it, as its an unrelated term I am unclear of. I have no idea if its right/wrong/unlogical/evil/good etc.

Sorry for that, but still, as of today this matter is in ice pack and fortunately/unfortunately we dont have any takers for this.. 🙂

    8 terrorists arrested in Pune

8 dangerous terrorists of Indian Mujahiddin are arrested from Pune today. They used to  hack Wifi connections and use the connection to send threatening emails to Police and government. Its notable that each of them were well educated, the head honcho Mohmmad Mansur Asgar Pirbhai, aged 31 used to work @ Yahoo! one of the most prestigious companies of India on a salary of Rs 19 lakh . Shame on Yahoo! for employing such a terrorist. (Yahoo! India has agreed to share Pirbhoys information to police, still is this the HR policy of Yahoo, shit….)

First, the Samajwadi Party, Congress and that old man Javed Akhtar  wailed in favour of Azamgarh based terrorists claiming that they indulged into terrorist activities becasue they didnt had education, jobs etc. Now look at this Mansur Pirbhoy. Educated, having a well secure job and future, still he manages to do terrorist acts, plant bombs, send hate mails, and what else..I was startled to read that this son of a swine Pirbhoy didnt had a hint of remorse for what he did, or what he wanted to do.  He was stone cold during interrogations. Should we riddle their bodies with metal in public, just to show what is the fate of being a terrorist?? Meanwhile, Maya Sharma, the widow of Delhi Police martyr, Mohan Chand Sharma has come back strongly at the son of a bitch Amar Singh when he made derrogatory comments againsts the Late Sharma. WTH is Amar Singh?? Why dosent someone rip off his bulging eyes?? Except for Amitabh Bacchan, I think no one would like Amar Singh..

    Meanwhile here are few tips

    1. If any muslim coms to stay in your building, area, inform the police.

    2. If your company has employeed muslim people, check their activities, their mails, their surfing habbits etc.

    3. Dont trust what the muslim religious authorities say, muslims *are* terrorists. The Imam of Jama Masjid, Delhi is the biggest terrorist..dont trust the terrorists..

    Happy Birthday Google..

    Google's 10th Birthday

    Google completes its 10 years, 28 September 1998 – 28 September 2008..

Starting from what was called  as ‘Dont be Evil’, Google today is the world’s largest database holding tonnes of secrets about people, their habbits, their thinking, their culture et al..

In the first 10 years, Google has introduced several user oriented web softwares that helped them remorph the IT industry..Initially, Google began its life as a simple web search engine no one could had imagined to be what is perheps an integral part of their computing experience. There are other players in this market, like MSN, Ask, the recent Cuil, but Google has outcasted them and I dont think there would be anything much left for anyone to try as far as Web search is concerned.

Long live Google, and dont forget, the privacy bomb’s ticking.. 😉

Shivraj Patil, a height of political incompetence

    shivrajpatil

    Breaking News – Sunday 30 Nov 2008 12:15 pm

After an eventful 3 days of Mumbai attacks, the bastard Sivraj Patil has finally decided to resign form the post of Union Home Minister.

    Son of a bitch..!!

    Update on 28/11/2008

    1. NSG commondos has surrounded Nariman House.

2, The Oberoi and Taj skirmish still continues, a blast is reported..

    3. USA sends a team of FBI officials to Mumbai, I dont know what will they do in here..

    4. Narendra Modi announces a 1 crore compensation to each of the killed in the attack..

    Update on 27 November 2008

Mumbai is being attacked by pakistani militants. India *is* at war..Are we getting it, India *is* at war..!!!

We lost Hemant Karkare, Vijay Salaskar, and numerous others… 😦

Shivraj Patil, you dork, why dont you just resign and sit at home telling stories of pre independence era to your grand children..maybe they will believe you are a Man…Terrorists are bombing places at their will, and your crap headed crab, you are sitting in a hi security office delivering bloody quotes..You incompetent nuthead, go away from the post of Union Home Minister, it is a prestigious and responsible ministry once held by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, hailed as the Iron Man of India. Shivraj Patil, dont forget, Sardar Patel was also of Congress, but one thing he had was courage. Courage isent a word, anyone could use it. You need to be a Man, understand it right. You need to be a Man to know exactly what courage means. The other day you were quoted as saying ‘I am not panicking even if terrorists attack’, isent it?? You burly brained nonsense, had the terrorists targetted your family members you would have realized who panicks and who dosent.

Let me tell you – The common Indian isent intimated by any kind of terror attack. We are used to every difficulty in life, every challenge, and every terse situation. But why should people like you get to be there, where you are right now..?? Crap head, just walk the streets of any Indian city unarmed, no security with you then you might get some sense in your brainless skull…

Shivraj Patil, you dork, you are an incompetant politico. Get a life…Get away from the Union Home Minisstry Office. You have already spoilt the prestige of that post, dont detoriate it further…

In a talk given to NDTV, this is what the minister has to say..

“I will resign only when the Congress president Sonia Gandhi tells me to go.”

wow, look at the height of shamelessness…So, according to Mr Shivraj Patil, Sonia Gandhi is the new God. And he will obey his God only…I am speechless…

We need that The law proposed by Narendra Modi, the GUJCOC should be implemented throughout India to battle terrorism. Add to it the POTA. Then I think no terrorist will dare to attack India

Shivraj Patil has been the weakest Home Minister we ever had .
why is he so reluctant to make any anti terror law .

He doen’t deserve to be Home Minister of India and must quit if he has a bit of shame.

Wonder where is Raj Thakeray to defend the marathi manoos who have suffered this pain and where is his party! To top it all, the hon’ble home minister spoke about V P Singh rather than people who are still alive and can die at the press briefing!

      Best way to counter terrorism
      1. Kill all the politicians and give reign to educated and dedicated people like IAS officers, IPS officers .Politicians are the biggest terrorists.
      2. Make the entire system more effecient and more accountable.
      3. Mr Sibbal says that it was a well planned attack and it was being planned from 2-3 months. Shame on you. Were you sleeping since then. Where the heck is our intelligence? Can we call ourselves a global power when we cant defend even a common man in our country. There are blasts everywhere and every month. Delhi, lucknow, jaipur, gujrat, bangalore, the list goes on.
      4. I want a bomb to explode in the parliament when all the politicians are there. They have fucked our country.
      5. This non sense statement that we choose the politicians is ridiculous. We will choose from what we get. The whole lot is rotten, what choice does the common man have?

      3. Last time when he was confronted by people / media he shouted back saying that he is loyal to his “leader” (read sonia gandhi). NO. Mr. Shivraj you are answerable for us, people of India. You represent India not sonia.

      Hi Guys

I understand the feeling of 1) Relatives of the Victims of Mumbai attack 2) The uneasy tense feeling Mumbaikars have when the go out on the streets of Mumbai

Hemant Karkare- Got his BTech as Mechanical Engineer, cleard IPS. When such highly qualified sincere officers are killed, it really is painful and sad.

However, please do not become emotional. Think Rationally.

I have seen emotional remarks like declare war on Pakistan.
Just think for 5 mins. What is the use of war? Will it not breed more hatred? You go and bomb the terrorists and kill them. But, their families will again develop hatred. Hatred breeds more hatred. You are just applying ointment for a disease, rather than curing it using medicines.

LB Shastri resigned as the Railway minister in 1956 owing moral responsibility when a train accident took place killing 144 people. How could he control a train accident ? But still he owned the responsibility.
Our former home minister Shivraj Patil, should have done it on the same lines. Unfortunately, it does not happen that way in today’s politics.

Its collectively responsibility of We the citizens to elect good politicians, report susupicious people to the police immediately.

    The LHC, CERN,the Earth,and me

The LHC or Large Hadron Collider was supposed to fire a huge beam smashing atoms, colliding quarks, and whatnot, that was capable of turning Earth into a black hole @ 1:30 PM IST.

Its 2:08 PM IST, I am observing that I am alive, the people next to me are alive, the computers working properly, there is no power cut, the TV’s on, there has been no earth quake reported, my mobile network is operational, theres traffic on road..people are moving around, they seem perfectly all right ..All these things prove that Earth has been spared from becoming a black hole. I dont now if the scientists @ CERN got what they were finding, but I am pretty sure that the world wont end that easily, especially with me having a lot of desires left to be satisfied 😉

Theres no प्रलय, heres no Doom’s day, theres no Apocalypse, Judgement Day has been postponed. 😛

Rejoice Dudes, we have got yet another day to live..make the most out of it, who knows what those crazy scientist might be upto now..However, i cant help thinking. Bing Bang, Universe is great, but we have got so many problems like hunger, poverty, unemployment, racism, corruption, religious controversies, why cant someone try to solve them, I bet they are more challenging then Big Bang.. 😉

Hey…to know what CERN’s to, watch this live webcast from this site. All I can see is few people walking here and there..

Update on 10 Sept 9:30 PM IST

This news of earth being turned into a black hole was potrayed so cinematically by some Indian news channels that one 16 year old girl in Indore commited suicide when she saw that the world was going to end soo..The Indian TV media once again proved they are the biggest assholes in some aspects..No maturity, no sense, no originality..Mongrels…Crap heded blistering barnacles..

They are only turning it on today. The colliding won’t actually happen for a few weeks yet so why people were getting all worried about today strikes me as being rather amusing.

There are no collisions planned today, so no chance of creating a black hole right now. Rejoiced to soon 😉

But to be honest: i don’t think anybody has to be afraid of black holes – that’s just…bullshit 🙂

      Hi Harshad,

CERN did indeed switch on the LHC, but only to warm up the machines and do some preliminary tests. They haven’t even began colliding the atoms yet. The first collisions take place in the second week of October this year.

If such a devestating cataclysm were to take place we wouldn’t know until 2012 when it reaches maximum performance and any hypothetical ‘mini black holes’ have had a chance to accrue and form a quasar inside the planet (which would be apocalyptic to say the least).

Having said that, no one can say for certain exactly what will happen once the LHC is colliding beams in ernest. Even CERN themselves admit that they can’t predict exactly what will happen and what chain of events will transpire. That’s a tad worrying. After all, nothing of this scale has ever been tested. Until now anyway.

There is a miniscule and remote chance that in four years, if Dr Otto Rossler and former nuclear physicist Walter Wagner are right, the earth will be experiencing some major negative changes. God forbid that happens.

2012 is a significant year for many reasons, (see the Mayan Long Count Calander and the Grand Allignment). I just hope that the LHC doesn’t make it a tragic hat trick for us.

Personally, I’m optimistic. The chance of tragedy is there. But it’s very small.

Its worth noting that the main collision experiment wont take place till around christmas. It will still not destroy the Earth though.

Hi, you have written the article quite in funny way. And even then it spills the truth. Nothing has happened as of yet. So we can say “Earth is Safe”.

I agree with you that why people, scientist, politicians run behind the “MRUGAJALA”?? As you rightly said, there are various issues like Hunger, Corruption, Racism, Poverty, Unemployment etc etc. Why can’t India and in turn World look for that. They are definitely challenging than Big Bang. No problem, World should go on exploring Earth, Universe and Environment but after it solves the problem within.

      1) Mini black holes are quantum objects described by quantum gravity. Since we don’t know how to do quantum gravity we cannot calculate any probabilities (for creation, decay etc) except for the case that we use classical theories (general relativity). These give an absolutely negligible probability for a BH to be created. I wish that LHC creates one however. This way we might get a hint on how to construct quantum gravity.

      2) If you could stand next to a mini BH you would feel no gravitational force (its field is extremely weak on macroscopic scales).

      3) BH do not devour everything that stands in their way. They are black simply because if you cross the event horizon there is no possible way to get out. But in order to fall into a BH you need to have a trajectory that crosses its event horizon. If we replaced the sun with a BH nothing would happen. Well, there would be no light and planets would revolve at faster speeds (those closer to the BH would have complex rosette trajectories).

the lhc at this point in time is a very bad idea, there are far to many unknowns.

when they were testing the fist a-bomb they though it might light
the atmosphere on fire, sure it may have not happened in the end but they had to do it because lives were at stake and they had to end a long drawn out war. failure was not an option!

but there is no justifiable reason why we should chance fate a second time over such a small thing.

at this point in history there are more important things, i feel they should postpone the testing for a decade or so and devote those $$$
bones to some thing better like mining asteroids and or developing practical solutions for space flight.
like idk a space shuttle the common man could afford to buy, maintain and operate.

the simple fact of the matter is that these tests have no real world use/applications at the moment.
more over we already have the scientific/technological capability of achieving such feat’s as space flight with out the lhc.

to conclude my rant i ask what is the lhc going to do for me “the common man”? I’ll tell you, “possibly” kill me and every one else, and a whole lota nothing!

and for what to satisfy the curiosity of some egg head whom does not care about my thoughts
ideals and more over my genius!

fool’s, I’ll bet if it was put to a world wide democratic vote today they would be shut down tomorrow!

the end does not justify the means no manner how you dice it what so ever.

(after all its not like the lhc is going any where;)

i wonder what would happen if the lhc was fired up and then all the sudden the sun let out a giant solar flair?

after all our sun has an solar cycle of about 11 years between its major amounts of solar activity.

i remember back in 1999 and 2000 they were all worried over y2k and also over that nastier solar cycle thing.

which may i add will be at its height on dec 21 2012.

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_cycle

either way i think the test should be postponed until a time between our suns solar cycle.

sure it would take them 15-20 more years or so to do all the tests they want to do but “safety first” that’s what i always say.

as far as i have read the lhc only has a life expectancy of 10 years, during that time it will be upgraded once.

but for them to do testing in 2009-2011 then stop for 5 years and then resume for 3-4 years, would be way more safer.

idk the main and only problem with the lhc that ppl should be worried about is the unknown side effects if such a device.

no only to us but our solar system in general, it doesn’t take much research on the internet to find out that such things can go terribly wrong.

although the lhc is only a 10 year project, the simple fact of the manner is that if such an device were in operation for say 40 years there is some where between a 40-75% chance of catastrophic failure resulting in alot of the side effect’s that many have dismissed as being false misinformation.

be it mini black holes, strangelets, mono-polar particles, i would have to say they are the least of our worries.

after all are we ready for the information and research that would be generated by the lhc, what are the consequences of this information?

after the discovery of nuclear fission mankind had the ability to fully destroy its self, this in effect caused fear and panic and later led to the cold war, a struggle which led to the economic failure of communism in the ussr resulting in much poverty.

with great power comes great responsibility, that being said what makes these scientists the right people for this task?

what gives them the right to put our lives at stake even if the chances is only like .000000000000000000000000000001% especially when nobody can say for certain what will or wont happen.

i dont wana go on spouting out all this doom’s day jargon and referring to prophecy but even though i dont believe in that crap that does not mean im not going to at least try to avoid such things.

i think that those people responsible for the lhc are being very ignorant of peoples believes customs and ideals, if the lhc were built in canada here it would have been shut down already due to lobbying and petitioning, and more over for being a violation of the Canadian charter of rights and freedom’s (due in part to its timing in accordance with the dec 21 2012 thing).

figure that, if i believed in the mayan religion and customs (ha minus the human sacrifice of course) according to the c c r f they would be violating my rights and i could sue them.

well first of all i just don’t want some fool machine messing up the earths geomagnetic field or for that manner disrupting the sun or some stupid thing like that.

it may be in France/Switzerland but it is still on earth.

i more or less just dont want them to do testing during the sun’s solar maximum.

          http://indigosociety.com/earth-not-risk-lhc-large-hadron-collider-t7791/#post546661

aka 2011 and on to 2015 or so and from 2020 to 2025, if they could not mess around with it then that would just be swell.

idk if it only effected them i wouldn’t care, i would happily go along with it until they killed them selves just so i could say i told you so.

but this thing is so big that if some thing go’s wrong it wont only effect them, our collective asses are on the line.

i think what will happen is a computational error due to emi/emp from a massive solar storm, this in turn will cause catastrophic failure.

it wont be software , it will be a hardware thing.

i’ll bet the entire facility is automated.

every door every window and even down to the very relays and contractors they use to control the sophisticated equipment in the lhc.

at that point it wont manner what operating system they use, in the end it will just be a simple error caused by the very thing that breathes life into our fair planet.

    The barren land of Kurukshetra

Arjuna looked around himself. The Sun was shining brightly on Krukshetra. The scared land of Kuru. It was from this place, where it all began….. He saw an endless sea of warriors stretched perheps till end of this world. This was not his main concern. He knew what the end result was. He knew himself from within. He knew it right. All the sages and heavenly spirits were ready to assist him in this final battle. Arjuna sensed his Gandeeva. It was still shining as it had been gifted to him by Lord Shiva. The Gandeeva had the sacred powers of the mighty Mahadev. On top of it, it had a deadly combination of Narayan Astra and Brahma Astra, ready to strike terrors in most mighty enemies. Arujna had faith in his weapons. He had blessings of his Guru Drona….

    Guru Drona….Suddenly, Arjuna felt weak.

Guru Drona. The learned Brahmin warrior. The old man who had both the blessings of Saraswati and Mahakali. The same warrior, who had granted Arjuna the power of wisdom and knowledge a time ago. The teacher of Arjuna.

Arjuna remembered all his childhood days. The first day in Dronas ashram…. The first fatherly affection and guidance, unknown because of  Pandus death…… The first tones of Freedom in wisdom and sacred Vedas, all learnt at Dronas ashram….. The first bow…..The first arrow….The eye of bird…Eklavyas sacrifice….The blessings of Guru…..The victory at Draupadis Swayamwar…The insult in court of Hastinapur…The Promise….The pain from where it began….

Arjuna felt weak in his moral strength on seeing the thin, frailed Drona. After all, Drona was his Guru. How can one kill a Guru? Guru is as important as the Creator, the Protector, the Destroyer. How can it be possible?

The confident hold on mighty Gandeeva loosened a bit..Arjuna looked at Brahma Astra. This as the greatest gift of the Guru to his favourite disciple. The ultimate protector in War. Any man possessing it was considered God. Drona was one of amongst them. How selflessly he granted the ultimate weapon to Arjuna. He had complete faith in Arjunas capabilities. More then what he had in his Son Ashwathama.

……Will I be a slayer? Am I a killer? What is use of a kingdom, if I will be a sinner? I will burn in seven Hells till eternity. Killing the Brahmin is a sin, that is unforgiven by God. On top of it, its Drona !!!! My guru. The first guide in this life after Kunti. Can I do it???…….

Arjunas mind was beginning to engulf in a major crises.

Krishna smiled to himself. The time was about to come soon…..

BSNL to launch 3G in Pune

BSNL has planned to launch 3G in Pune, Maharashtra. BSNL is the state owned public limited company. Its the biggest POTS provider and it also provides cellular, wll and internet services. BSNL has planned to invest Rs 300 crore and initially, it will serve about 2000 BSNL customers. Later, in end 2008, they will expand it once the GOI finalizes the 3G deal. To use 3G, you will need to pay 725 per month..

    Q. What is 3G ?

Ans. 3G is the third generation of mobile phone standards and technology, after 2G. It is based on the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) family of standards under the International Mobile Telecommunications programme, “IMT-2000“. 3G technologies enable network operators to offer users a wider range of more advanced services while achieving greater network capacity through improved spectral efficiency. Services include wide-area wireless voice telephony and broadband wireless data, all in a mobile environment.

Unlike IEEE 802.11 networks, 3G networks are wide area cellular telephone networks which evolved to incorporate high-speed internet access and video telephony. IEEE 802.11 networks are short range, high-bandwidth networks primarily developed for data.

    Features

The most significant feature of 3G mobile technology is that it supports greater numbers of voice and data customers — especially in urban areas — and higher data rates at lower incremental cost than 2G.

By using the radio spectrum in bands identified, which is provided by the UTI for Third Generation IMT-2000 mobile services, it subsequently licensed to operators. 3G uses .6 MHz channel carrier width to deliver significantly higher data rates and increased capacity compared to 2G networks.

The .5 MHz channel carrier provides optimum use of radio resources for operators who have been granted large, contiguous blocks of spectrum. On the other hand, it also helps to reduce the cost to 3G networks while being capable of providing extremely high-speed data transmission to users.

It also allows the transmission of 384 kbit/s for mobile systems and 2 Mb/s for stationary systems. 3G users are expected to have greater capacity and better spectrum efficiency, which allows them to access global roaming between different 3G networks.

    Issues

Although 3G was successfully introduced to users in Europe, Asia, South America (Uruguay) and Africa, some issues are debated by 3G providers and users:

    • Expensive input fees for the 3G service licenses
    • Numerous differences in the licensing terms
    • Large amount of debt currently sustained by many telecommunication companies, which makes it a challenge to build the necessary infrastructure for 3G
    • Lack of member state support for financially troubled operators
    • Expense of 3G phones
    • Lack of buy-in by 2G mobile users for the new 3G wireless services
    • Lack of coverage, because it is still a new service
    • High prices of 3G mobile services in some countries, including Internet access (see flat rate)
    • Current lack of user need for 3G voice and data services in a hand-held device

    My concern

    • BSNL is not known to provide anything called as QoS. Infact, not a single telco or ISP in India ever promises to deliver services on minimum QoS. Even most of the consumers dont bother about QoS. Why this carelessness, I dunno..Astonishing to know that 3G can have upto 2Mbps top speed. BSNL actually provides 2 MB as an elite internet service and that too at a premium price, and they dont gurantee that the upload/download sped will be consistant. Call any of their technical teams, they have got an answer – The server through which you ar uploading might be having some problems..Gosh, I am experimenting on their unlimited plan, and all I can get is a paltry 30 kbps download under good conditions…Are they taking me on a ride?  Is this what they call broadband??
    • Right now, BSNL is promising video calling on 3G. The catch is that many existing customers dont have access to full fledged 3G devices. Also, people having BSNL mobil will be able to make video calls only to those having bsnl as mobil service provider, as no other service provider has got 3G capabilities of now. So, its only bsnl here..Remember those olden days when the BSNL phone used to be dead for major part of day, do we get to see this in case of 3G as well??
    • Why didnt BSNL go in for Apple iPhone 3G when they were actually having resources to provide 3G? Its a waste of money and time for those who have purchased it through Airtel or Vodafone…

One things good that we are actually getting some premium services in India, however, as a consumer, we need to demand QoS from all service providers, whether its the ISP, telco or even the government that we elect..(or others elect..)

Olympic Medal, Apple iPhone, and me

Last two weeks were of great hustle bustle for Indian sports. Abhinav Bindra won the first individual gold medal in 10 m shooting event for independent India, later Shushil Kumar, a Najafgarh lad fetched a bronze in freestyle wrestling, the last one was in 1952 Helsinki Olympics, and on the same day, Bhiwani based boxer, Vijender Kumar ensured a sure bronze in boxing, 75 kg catagory. So far, this has been the best sports performance by Indian in any major sport event, the other mentionable achievements being winning the 1983 ICC World Cup under Kapil Dev, and the 2007 Twenty-20 world cup win under Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s captaincy. Some people said that Abhinav won gold because he had enough resources to get out of the under facilitated  Indian sports system, we thought, perheps this is the way winners are created. But Sushil Kumar, a person whose father is a MTNL driver, managed to win a bronze in wrestling. True, shooting and wrestling cannot be compared, but I cant help thinking, is the system so bad that you need to be a multi millionaire to win a gold for country? If that was the case, then Sushil Kumar might never had a chance..

A lesson is lurking in there for budding sportsmen out there

    1. If you are like Abhinav Bindra,a super rich having truck load of money, resources and passion to make it to the top, dont worry for a damm ‘system’ or anything related, just do what you feel will take you to the top.

    2. If you are like Sushil Kumar, or Vijender Kumar, maybe you have to rely on government provided facilities, even though one may say the govt lacks the latest technology and infrastructure, still, thats your best hope and best choice.  The government is too slow to do things, but once in a while, it does produce winners.

    3. Olympic events are great, but thats not the ultimate goal. take for example, a sport like Formula 1 acing is at par with any sports event, I think its the most expensive sport ever known to mankind, we should excel in that too..Dr Vijay Mallya, the head honcho of Formula Force India has got enough money to make a good car..leave that it wont beat Ferrari in near future, but still…their ad shows Shahrukh Khan saying – ‘I want to compete with the best’,  Good luck mate..  😉

Yesterday, on 22 August, Vodafone and Airtel launched Apple iPhone ‘officially’ in India. Originally, the iPhone sported a tag of $499 and $799, many Indians thought they might lay their hands on the hyped beauty, however, things soon turned the other way, the iPhone is avaiilable @ a cool 31000/- and 36000/- which is approx $900 in terms of US dollors, isent it too high?? Add to it, 3G is not present in India, the TRAI, the DoT are still a distance from striking the deal with 3G providers, nothings finalized..then why do I need to buy a pretty expensive wifi device? I could go in for Netgear or cisco routers, they allow great wifi features..No doubt Apple iPhone got not so great response in the Indian market. Mr Steve Jobs, dont take Indians for granted, they will pay you more if you give them what they need, but no chance if you provide half baked products at an exotic price.

The Apple iPhone has got several limitations.

    1. You cannot forward an sms.

    2. No bluetooth present. Apple tries to fill this gap, expecting that wifi will overtake bluetooth devices, but then they will have to wait for some time.

    3. A 2 MP camera, no flash, no video. No takers for this one.

    Now, about me..

Well, me had pretty ordinary week, barring a few lectures by people, everything was the same as usual. Trying hard to overcome the rage, and I think I will be successful in doing it. 🙂

    Tips for Safe Chatting

Don’t chat about things that could enable a stranger to locate you. That includes your last name, the name of your school or workplace, the city you live in, and where you hang out.

Protect your info. Don’t put identifiable information in your user profile, including photos. What’s uploaded to the Internet can be downloaded and shared by everyone. Avoid posting photos that allow people to identify you, especially sexually suggestive images. Before uploading a photo, think about how you’d feel if it were seen by a parent, friend, or future employer.

Never meet with someone you encounter in a chat room unless you already know who they are.

    Unexpected problems??

The best way to avoid problems, is to avoid them.

Look around, you will get to see people who are perfect, they just dont seem to have any kind of conflicts, or any issues, they get well with any situation, any kind of people, they appear so natural, so flawles, sometimes we call them as happy go lucky, but sadely, the moment we try to act like them, we are in deep deep trouble..Heaven sake dont try to copy someone because it appears attractive or seems so perfect and so right for them. Once you are in a problem, dont crib over you getting caught in there when someone else was deserving it, just accept the fact that you werent smart enough to get out of it.

Last week, an errant rave party convict started screaming at me explaining that the rave party was good, he was innocent, and things like that..Actually, I didnt bother anything, but I realized, that he, along with his physiotherapist sister were facing problems, just like I described above. For them, rave party wasent the problem. The problem was, they found their names in the list of convicted people I had put up almost year ago..I imply said- If all that you are fgetting problamatic over seeing your name, the best solution was not to attend the party where you knew drugs were distributed freely…Maybe thats was their fasination, who cares?? That called me a moral brigadeer, a moral police(Hey, what does it mean?), he also called me a Talibani (rofl)..

Anyway, all I can say is – ‘Dont ever get into trouble, and if at all you do, just accept it as fate.’

TRAI okays net telephony in India

The Telecom regulator in India, TRAI on Monday allowed ISPs to offer unrestricted internet telephony services, a move that will further boost competition in the domestic long distance segment and lower STD tariffs.

“It is envisaged that customers will ultimately benefit from cost effective and innovative internet telephony service.

These recommendations will put Indian telecom sector in tune with global trends. The grey market tendencies shall be curtailed,” TRAI said in a statement.

As per the TRAI recommendations, the STD service providers would be connected to ISPs through public internet for the purpose and the two service providers would have mutual agreement for the same.

The move will permit calls from personal computers to fixed line and mobile phones. Currently, a voice call can travel between two computers but not from a mobile or a fixed phone. This is expected to open huge channels of revenues for Internet Service Providers (ISPs).

The Telecom Engineering Centre (TEC), a technical arm of Department of Telecom, will work out the number plan for the ISPs to enable them to offer telephone services.

“Telephone numbers from identified blocks shall be allocated to ISPs, Unified Access Service Providers, BasicService Providers and Cellular Mobile Service Providers for internet telephony,” TRAI said.

With a view to make internet telephony secure, TRAI said, all ISPs interested to provide unrestricted internet telephony would install “Lawful Interception” equipments. Usually, that would mean that the government or law enforcement agencies will be able to monitor anyone, good to prevent terrorist conversations, but potentially seen as a invasion on privacy..Further, voice grade communication requires strict QoS control and it also needs good broadband penetration among people..Given the policy of calling 256 kbps as broadband in India, I doubt whether there will be real mass appeal to this scheme. Lets see..

    Beijing Olympics 2008 kicks off

    Beijing Olympics 2008

The Beijing Olympics 2008 ceremony has kicked off and officially, for next 20 days, we are going to see an exciting series of old records broken, new records being set. Top leaders from almost 80 countries are visiting Beijing for this extravaganza. Here’s a joke thats being passed here in India.

Dubya, the George Bush Jr, who is enjoying his few days as American President, is visiting China as a guest at the Beijing Olympics ceremony, where he is supposed to deliver a small speech.

He’s handed over a speech letter by his secretary. Dubya goes through it, and begins…

    “O…O……O….O…”

The secretary says ‘ Sir, plese turn the page, thats not ‘O’. Thats the official Olympic logo. Your speech’s on the next page..’

    The Ego and the flames

Ego is bad. Very bad. And when you find someone more egoistic then you, then its extremely hard to describe how badly it hurts. What exactly hurts is not known, but somewhere within, deep inside there is pain..lot of pain..words can describe it…but its real and it exists.

I found  a new way to get over pain.

    1. I searched for all her conversations from the server. All the dialogs were intact on Gtalk, Gmail and Open Server.

    2. Brought a bundle of executive bond papers, the most expensive ones.

    3. Opened every conversation I had with her.

    4. Print was the command.

    5. Printing continued till the entire executive bond paper bundle became empty.

    6. Gathered all of them, and arranged them properly.

    7. Went on the terrace. Sprinkled some kerosene on it. 1 match stick was enough..

    8. As I watched the flames consuming the conversations I had with her, within my true self, something was feeling to be at peace. I think it was ego, maybe..

    9. Threw the matchbox in too…emptied the whole kerosene bottle..the eager flames were hungry for more..

    10. Felt much better. It was all over for me…One relation ended. I finally was at peace..The rage seemed pacified…

I hope things will be normal now. Slowly, but surely, I will be back. I am not a slave of my ego, but I cant promise anything if it gets hurt.

Well..I guess it wasent easy afterwards..I had purchased those expensive papers for taking printouts of the stamp collection I found on flickr…Later Dad inquired about those pages, and I nonchalantly told him -‘I set them on fire’..He was stunned..!! I had to hear many things…I had to apologize to him. Probably he knows the real reason, he’s just waiting for me to confess it…I will speak it out to him soon…

      Till then, alls well…

Ego is painful, you are so right. I had a big pain today, as my ego came up against my mothers. The worst thing about ego is that is implicitly hard to see in ourselves and easy to see in others. That is the nature of introspection, to reveal.

How to write a kludgy news crawler in Python and challenge Google News to its limits

A kludge (or, alternatively, kluge) is a clumsy or inelegant solution to a problem or difficulty. In engineering, a kludge is a workaround, typically using unrelated parts cobbled together. Especially in computer programs, a kludge is often used to fix an unanticipated problem in an earlier kludge; this is essentially a kind of cruft.

I was searching data on my old disk and I found some interesting code I had written(rather abandoned) an year and half ago. At that time, I was very fascinated by the concept of Google News, which scanned and gathered news from almost 450 sources and mash up them together on one single page.  Mnay sources, one destination. Needless to say, Google created a smash hit product.Life appeared easy, all of sudden.

Given my nature, it wasent surprising  that I desired to write the next Google News Killer app. It began at night…around 10:30 to be precise. I was determined to finish the program in a nights time. Python was my original (and only) choice that seemed suitable for me to create the next biig thing. Googling around I found that a module feedparser.py makes parsing RSS feeds easy(so to say). However, there was a problem – At that time, I had no clue of what XML meant. That was only the beginning. Later, I also discovered that I had extremely limited knowledge of HTML..Then I realized that my Python basics were giving me plenty of surprises…

Bah..it looked so bad, here I was trying to write a good program, and there were tonnes of difficulties in first path itself. However, determination took over desperation, and after tweaking and pondering for well over 46 minutes, I was able to produce an extremely kludgy , extremely basic, extremely primitive Google News Killer – Wow…..the feeling was so good.  Imagine – writing something out of scratch, and that too without any help(ok, I took help from Mark Pilgrims feedparser.py and python.org) I chose to call it News Crawler.

Get the python file by clicking the link – check-news Dont forget to rename it the file to check-news.py and also, make sure that identions are proper.

    Now something about the code.

    1. As I said earlier – the code is extremely dumb, extremely kludgy, extremely primitive, extremly basic and theres lot of shoddiness in there. Dont laugh at it even if it appears funny.

    2. The code has heard nothing of security, and is meant to run under controlled environment.

    3. It dosent make use of any SQL database backend, but is wise enough to store the RSS feeds on HDD before dissecting them, and extracting useful content.

    4. It expects that the XML files are in Unicode format. Some rouge sites make use of shabby encoding, which raises an exception in the program.

    5. I havent added any exception handling, just laziness, nothing more.

    6. For reference, I have shown how we can incorporate Slashdot and Reddit feeds on single page. You can add in your favourite feed.

    ToDo

    1. Make use of a good HTML templeting system.

    2. Solve the problem of unicode.

    3. Add error checking and improve its utility by making use of Pythons object oriented features.

    4. Add a SQL backend system for storing the parsed RSS data. To be honest, its the toughest job to do.

    5. Post up a nice powerpoint presentation describing the system. 🙂

    5. PS – I will definately not do anything of above unless someone seriously decides to fund me.

After a long time I am back to programming world, I got so busy with other things that I had to abandon my dream project, but who knows, someday it may come true..  😉

Arushi Talwar – who was the real villian?

Some people stick to fame in their lifetime, some, like the teenager Arushi Talwar become famous after being killed..Who made Arushi Talwar’s death famous? – The Media. The news media in India needs to be seriously monitored for the senselessness they have been showing on TV. First they portray someone as a murderer, a dacoit, a criminal, without investigating in deep and then after the real story is out, they start portraying the same person as a saint, a holy man who was caught in crime..! Whoa, isent that great?

I dont know who killed Arushi, I dont even care about what Dr Talwar was, I dont even bother about who Hemraj was,but as a viewer, I am fed up with the news channels that show crap and complete nonsense on the TV.Heck, why should I subscribe to channels that continuously show irrelevant content as a part of their main program? Hey, now it sucks, news channels have becoming a sort of reality time pass show, where they can make a news out of anything, virtually anything. The real criminals in the Arushi Talwar murdar case were the news channels, the media, and the idiot investigation agencies, the police who didnt know how to react in this situation. Suddenly, everyone involved in there wanted to become famous, even if that fame would last for 15 seconds..Why people are hell bent on becoming famous?? Perhaps Madhur Bhandarkar should make a new film named – Fame or News Channel. Hot topics for a controversial film.

But one question remains unanswered – Who is the real villian in Arushi Talwar case?  My bet is on the over eager news channelsaka news mongrels. They are the main villians.

    Update on 10 September 2008

The CBI has failed to file a chargesheet against any person and offered a prize worth Rs 10000/- to the one who tells who killed Arushi talwar…According to me, the system killed Arushi, the media killed Arushi, now throw me the money 😉

    The New Age dilemma

    • S: (n) dilemma, quandary (state of uncertainty or perplexity especially as requiring a choice between equally unfavorable options)

I have discovered a new ego bruising experience. If you are a single individual, and having lot of virtual girl friends on social networking tools like Orkut, then you might have noticed that whenever the girls status changes to ‘commited’ there is something, a sort of silent tiing that goes across the mind..It isent exactly pain or unhappiness, its something mix of surprise, shock, bruised ego and just like that…

No actual reason why this happens, but fair enough, so many times I have preached to people – Digital Social Networks esp Orkut are a fun, playway mirror of our daily lives, but the real problem arises when we start relating those tools with our real life and begin attaching our emotions and expectations to our virtual meetings. A timepass turns trouble for some. Should Orkut/Facebook/Myspace be avoided? Or is it the beginning of a new age desperation? Boy…this things tough to comprehend…Web 2.0 has binded people togather on a common platform but no ones ever thinking of the trouble that is following us..Wake up…Welcome to the new age dilemma.

    Wise Words

By staying faithful to shreya [what is right and beneficial], instead of preya [what is pleasant], we win the sweetest fruits of life, from success to happiness to enlightenment

There are some marvellous concepts in Vedanta that reduce the spiritual quest into essential principles. Among them are the twin concepts of Preya and Shreya.

What are these? Apart from the fact that they are delightfully rhymed (notice how Sanskrit specialises in related concepts that rhyme? Yogi-bhogi, tan-man, smriti-shruti, one could go on!), they are connected, for they illustrate the vital importance of fusing our desires into one single-pointed direction.

Preya stands for what is pleasant: a holiday in Goa, channa bhaturas and gulab jamuns, driving a Mercedes Benz, designer clothes and shades, a blazing love affair, etc. Shreya, unassuming and circumspect, stands for what is beneficial to us: eating healthy, maintaining an exercise regimen, staying within one’s income, maintaining fidelity in marriage, doing one’s duty. All the world will agree, especially today, that Preya is the hip swinging chick, while Shreya, let’s face it, is the dowdy one. Boring, for heavens sake.

Little wonder then that most of us beat a path to Preya’s door, while Shreya’s threshold is definitely the road less taken, indeed almost never taken.

All through our lives, we chase the objects that promise us happiness, like money, love, good times, fame, power, success, etc. But the paradox, as Vedanta says, is that we never really get happiness. Why? Because we look for it in the wrong place. Outside, not inside. Preya seduces us through our senses and we gallop after all that it flourishes, horse racing, cigarette smoking, Formula One races, and what not. But no sooner do we get there than the promised happiness either dissolves or is seen to not exist.

In the Katha Upanishad, the body is likened to the chariot, the five senses to the horses, the intellect to the charioteer, the mind to the reins, and the Self to the rider inside the chariot. As long as the intellect and the mind do not do their duty by reining in and controlling the senses, the horses will run amok, charging after whatever attracts them without discrimination or restraint. And what happens? The rider never gets to the place he wants to go: peace of mind, happiness, health, even enlightenment.

Shreya, on the other hand, can seem like a dull piece of goods when first we make our acquaintance with her dull —and exacting—like a stern school marm, but as we get to know her better we will have to admit that she really has our interest at heart. You are on a diet, she will remind us, just as we are about to lift a grilled cheese sandwich to our mouth, and if we can make ourselves replace it with a vegetable sandwich instead, we will savour the sweet sense of a victory over the senses. Or we may be itching to watch TV and she will remind us of the vegetables to be peeled or the ironing to be done. Or her small still voice stalls us when we contemplate a temptation at work that requires us to bend the rules just a little in order to make a fortune.

Most of us pay obeisance to both Preya and Shreya for we are awfully torn between them. Instead of fusing all our energies into one direction, we fritter them by being pulled into two opposite directions. We long to stay slim, fit and healthy, but no sooner do we see a mutton biryani or hariyali kabab than our goal forgotten and we chomp right into them. We regret it later, but that simply adds to the problem because now we have guilt to contend with as well, which also sends us headlong into Preya.

We long for success but instead of gritting our teeth and working our heads off, we apple polish the boss and bitch about our colleagues. We vow not to gossip or bitch about others but no sooner do we catch hold of a juicy morsel, than we hasten to spread it among our buddies. Life is a long and wearisome struggle to get out of the hold of Preya and towards Shreya.

For we will never get what we want as long as we do the opposite.

The Katha Upanishad tells us that Preya and Shreya stand for the two choices that we have to make at any given time. Consciously or unconsciously, we choose either Preya or Shreya. And the two go in opposite directions.

One towards lasting happiness and fulfillment, the other towards temporary satisfaction and permanent regret. At the end of our lives, we will be able to gauge which of the two has been our guide and inspiration by examining where we stand. Are we happy, energised, buoyant and radiant? Clearly, Shreya has been our mentor. Are we tired, ill, impoverished and unfulfilled? Oh dear, we have been too enamoured of Preya.

So how do we get out of the hold of Preya and move towards Shreya?

Ramakrishna Paramahansa put it in sublimely simple words. If you want to go East, don’t go West. If you want to lose weight, don’t eat fattening food. If you want to be fit, don’t give up your exercise. If you want to finish your project, stop chatting with your colleagues and checking the mail.

If you want to get enlightened, stop chasing good times. All we have to do to obey Shreya is not to obey Preya. Refuse to betray your friends or your own values. Refuse to chase money, fame or power at the cost of values or principles. Refuse to indulge the senses.

And lo, your task is done. Preya soon wilts away into a gossamer shade, and Shreya waxes strong and beautiful. With Shreya at our side, the battle of life is eventually won, for she teaches us to put the long term over the short term, the principle over expedience, the right over the tempting.

By staying faithful to Shreya we win the sweetest and most sought after fruits of life, from success to happiness to enlightenment.

Simple words, they are effective in preventing a lot of day-to-day troubles we have most of times, including a bad-relationship, a bad office day, a bad fight…everything like that…

For those who found Preya and Shreya a wee bit simple or complex, this is for you.

All human beings are not equipped to take on changes or difficult situations in life, naturally. Out of them, many don’t adapt to those situations. The result normally is— those situations and accompanying stress overwhelm people. Since modern times stress has been identified as the single biggest contributor to depression. The mind-boggling changes in every sphere of life—culture, profession, modes of transportation and rapid lifestyle changes put pressure on men to adjust with equal speed. Stress begins to wear them out and there is a loss of resiliency against adverse situations of life. Consequently, they begin to pull away from others and give in to depression.
It is often said that people think themselves into depression. The thinking pattern of a person helps him accept or avoid a stress situation. If one shows disposition towards anxiety, worry, restlessness, anger and tension as stress responses, it can lead him to chronic emotional turbulences. We can worsen an ordinary sorrowful situation by imagining its possible intensity. We create problem situations by imagining what might go wrong, could go wrong, and how terrible it would be. Even if the depression is due to biochemical imbalances, the person doesn’t abstain from thinking negatively about it. Constant stressful situations make one develop a negative pattern of thinking, which gives in to depression at the slightest provocation in life.

At present, a whole lot of holistic therapies are applied to heal acute and chronic depression. Besides prescription drugs, healing methods such as naturopathy, energy balancing, and yogic techniques are extensively and effectively utilized all over the world. Adopting a positive lifestyle helps you develop a healthy mind-body frame to avoid depression. For those believing in medical solution, a dose of Fluxotine will do wonders.

    Slambook

Slambook….after so many years, I remember this…I never got a chance to be in someones slambook, but it was something very hot in my school days. Usually, it was as self decorated book having different sections like we have on Orkut, except that we had to manually fill it in our own handwriting. Bad handwriting wasent allowed and the system was ultra secret. It was meant to be an exclusive girl-to-girl communication system. Boys werent allowed nearby, but I confess that I had once stolen a slambook out of pure curiosity, just to get details of what happens in there. It was luck, but peeping in someones property is equivalent of stealing…Later I meekly returned that book, the girl was shocked..!! She said – ‘Did you read this??’ I said – ‘No, why should I?’ I lied, I know, but I read everything, everything that was supposed to be a secret away from most of boys reach.

Some interesting stuff I remember was

    1. The address and phone number – Every girl jotted down her phone number and postal address. In those days cellular phones were non existant and pagers were ultra cool. It was of no great use to me, I did not have a landline number, and the line I used for speaking would be heavily monitored. Besides, I was too lazy to move around on a cranky bicycle hunting for the girls address.

    2. Likes – It was default that a girl likes ice cream and black forest. For a long time, I didnt know what black forest meant until someone fed me a delicious combination of chocolate, cake, coffee, ice cream, then I realized its a yummy thing…and since then, its my favourite till date.

    3. Favourite colour – Insignificant detail, but pink was common..We dont have this on Orkut 😛

    4. Favourite film – Most of them mentioned Hollywood stuff. I wasent permitted to see any Hollywood film(officially) till I  became 18. Unofficially, I watched many Hollywood movies, and my parents dont know that 😉 Never knew why girls liked Tom Cruise. I liked his mission impossible 2 movie, because I was facinated by the bikes in it, not the heroine.

    5. Every girl tried to decorate her slam content as good as possible. (I recall, my drawing belonged to the genre of Mr Pablo Picasso. Ultra Modern, abstract, and complex, my teacher once mocked me that you will be the next Picasso of India. She was rude..I didnt like that joke)

Today, I am riding on the messeges sent by Gods of Technology, as if I am from other galaxy, or an Almighty, but innocence is what I want. Those were the best days of my life…Sweet and innocent. Free from complexities of all this world..Todays kids arent so lucky..They have got everything, but the charm of a naive and raw life is unknown to them..Today we have got Orkut, Facebook, Myspace, theres even one online virtual site, but that beautiful handwritten slambook remains an eluded teen age dream…nostologia peheps..

      Slambook!!!!!!!
Wow….its so nice you wrote about it….brings back all those memories of school days….went roaming about in class asking ppl to fill it out….
The funniest thing is, i fancied the slam thing so much, that i had 2 slambooks…one in 7th n one in 10th…and i still have them….crazy times =)

Tributes to a warrior – Feild Marshal Sam Manekshaw

    Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, MC

I pay tributes to Feild Marshal Sam Manekshaw. A true soldier, a brave son of India, you have got no parallel. You will be remembered for several generations. Sam Bahadur, we are proud of you. History and Future will always respect you for your valour.  I wonder what the Indian cricket team might be thinking when they beat Bangladesh (former East Pakistan) at Karachi, Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2008. Except for MS Dhoni, most of the players are nuts…least they should remember that this victory comes due to the valient efforts of some brave men, one of them being Sam Bahadur..Bangladesh owes this man a lot.

    Enlightment,a new hope

Men are haunted by the Future. Men are haunted by the vastness of eternity. And so we ask ourselves: will our actions echo across the centuries? Will strangers hear our names long after we are gone, and wonder who we were, how bravely we fought, how fiercely we loved?

I call myself a Peaceful Warrior… because the battles I fight are on the inside..

All Karmas proceed with the force to either remove pain or gain pleasure
Experiencing pleasure and pain, we roam the streets of Samsara

Where there is Birth, there will be certain pain
There is certain Death, and nothing to gain

Not knowing light from darkness we roam the streets of misery
    In beauty there is ugliness
In ugliness I see beauty too
What a repulsive body that I have which oozes grime and filth
These carnal desires do I find unfulfilling

Where there is Birth, there will be certain pain
There is certain Death, and nothing to gain

    Sadashiva Samarambham Shankaracharya Madhyamam
    Asmadacharya Paryantam Vande Guru Paramparam

    सदाशिवा समारंभम् शंकराचार्य माध्यमं
    आसमादचर्यां पारयनतम् वन्दे गुरू परंपरामं

    Finally the Truth is seen
Unknowable once to me but now known to me
What an error it is to take myself to be what I am not

    No words can reveal me
Yet words alone set me free
The beatitude revealed through desciplic succession

    No delusion for me
    I am the ever free
    No illusion for me
    I am the ever free

Finally, the desires are Ash, I smear those ashes on my forehead and I free myself. Bhasma on my body..Bhasma on my soul..I am liberated….the Pain turns to Love….a new hope..Maya reveals her true form…

    Maya is inevitable…

    I submit myself to Maya..

    Maya has set me free…

    The revelations are known…

    May there be peace..

As one of the noble truths of buddha say,

all human existence is painful, eliminate the pain by eliminating the cause.

      however, nothing is permanent.

Buddha was suffering from acute depression…But do you know that Buddhas teachings did protect Indian sub continent from maniac Mongols till 1962 India China wars??

The only way to prevent any sorts of conflicts is to accept the things as they come to you without asking for its purpose or to think about its consequences. The only truth is the Desires we have with us. Denying Desires for some imaginary reasons is root cause of sorrow, and its funny that in todays marketing age, people can cash on sorrow too..if you can cash it on, sorrow is fine, else submit yourself to Maya unconditionally, rest assured, everything works in your favour…

You were the one I was dreaming all my life..You were my rain, you were the Sun, I needed both, because I needed you..Words are poor substitutes for feelings, specifically those feelings which are intense, at the same time too complex…But now what remains is the Ashes…The Ashes of Desires…The word cruel is too overused, how can people be so cruel? Why? What makes them behave so brutally? Am I always wrong in learning people? How can it be? She was so beautiful…I remember..it was cold November..leaves were falling..life was a dream…Today my dreams are lost, but I thank God for the little chance he gave me to have those wonderful experiences. Thank You God, I used to see you through her. Bless her.

    Poem is stolen from here.

Dedicated to my lost love – Honey, I loved you immensely

Every time u call i freeze
When your close to me i feel a chilly breeze
I know something is not right
Could u b the one making me feel so tight

    I didn’t use to like u
But now could it b true..
Am i falling in love with u?

So innocent, so sweet and surreal
Casting a swirling aura around us
    Turquoise eyes drowning and drenched
    Within the angelic love song

The hearts had met to one mystic soul
Wanted to feel this forever and ever
Never to cease and fade, never to wane
My love I always felt , would always
Last till the end of the time.

I agree that this short peom isent mine, I take no credits for it. I dont know who’s written it, but what matters is that its an apt example of whats going through my mind..Normally I dont speak mushy, but now I am letting it out in public.

Honey, listen to me, you may never know or understand  it, but if you  read this, I confess that I loved you more then anything else. True we may never meet, but if I could show you what true love was, then its this….My words are turning empty, but the feelings arent…Dear God, if you get time from you daily chores, can you please listen up a prayer I sent for her? Keep her happy. Just keep her happy, I know what pain is like, but I wish she remains happy. She retaught me the purpose of life. Those beautiful moments she passed with me make me feel heaven. I have no complaints with what happened, nor I care a damn about whats gonna take place, but the fact is, I am in deep love, I am rediscovering myself in a form previously unknown to me..

Gosh, these feelings….let the rain come down and wash away my tears, let it shatter the walls and drown my fears..I feel as if I had been kissed by an angel of Love..A new day …has come…..

To all those boozing hounds and enemies of Love and haters of God, non believers in Love – This post is not meant for you. Not at all for you. If you are the pathetic and immature souls whose concepts are fake as that of Maya, get a life..shoo away, you get it, just fly away..hide yourself into deepest dark oceans or infinite space..Go….!!!!

Disclaimer While the people I write about are real, the experiences I post here may or may not be real and related to people I know. Its just my thoughts I have spoken to myself. If anyone of you finds a co-incidence, then rejoice…maybe I have taken some inspiration from you..And honestly, I do not hate anyone in life, even if you have managed to break my heart, you know that I am a brave soul 😉 Maybe 10 years from now I look back and say – O boy, I was so mad, crazy at times, I dont know. We are all strong and weak at times. So dont mind anything, just read, enjoy and move on with life

    Good Grief

This heartbreak hangover has continued for fairly long time, I mean its more then a week I havent been able to pick my spirits up. In one point of view, everything appears as a dead end, especially in this fast globalized ultramodern age, with so much technology and gadgets around, who would bother to wait and listen? Its such a fast paced world. Friendship made and broken in seconds, split seconds without batting an eyelid, On the other hand, the mind, the frenziness of emotions and feelings tell an otherwise story. Whom to really care for? Inspite of technology, the communication and understanding gap still prevails between people. This comes to notice specifically when one apologizes to a girl by making use of email/sms/chat combo. Even a guy advised me to meet her and sort it out. Boy, I had that courage and might, then probably I wouldent even have these bad feelings get into my way. This is Karma, we attach our emotions with so many people really without knowing the consequence of what will happen in future. Some blokes I know are pretty calculated individuals, they do not allow emotions to get in their way, call it a professional approach of sort.

This incident taught me many things.

    1. No matter how much rich your dad is, a gurl will first look at you and your capabilities. Atleast the one who analyses you for a long time dosent get impressed by the prizes you won, she looks at the job and the yearly package. No other impression ever works.. 😦

    2. Surrounded by technology, we might get a feel of being a technocrat or whatever, but primitive feelings like emotions, rage, jealousy still exist. By no means we can avoid it. The forms and definations of ego might have changed, but it still continues to hurt as hell.

    3. Love hurts. In every age Love hurts. It has hurted me a lot. I dont know if I am mature enough to understand its true meaning, but the seen consequence makes me wonder – I am freaky enough to be loved?I am an equally loved and hated guy, I remember most of those occasions when I was hated..

Gosh darn those status lines on my Gtalk – Love and Hate are one and all, sacrifice soon turns to revenge..

A girl may not find these lines romantic enough, especially when shes commited to someone else. She will take it as an ominous sign of flirting, and bang, thats the end of all relations..no amount of apologies work, meeting is impossible, no truce…no peace, direct attack…what else??

    4. If you have been hurt before in relations, its wisdom to avoid complications in first place itself. If any jilted lover is reading this, I would advise – Avoid relations that do not exist. Example – A fragile relation that occured during a meeting over in social networking tools like MySpace, Orkut, FaceBook etc. These relations are never serious, they do not have any name, Modern pundits call it cyber relations, I dont have any good name for it. I mean its crazy concept to even think of attaching a name and emotions to a thing that exists in electronic world. Its true that sentimental fools like me are fond of attaching their feelings to the most ridiculous and insignificant things that exist in this world, its difficult at times. Here, every occasional hi, hello is a symbol of friendship, and every relation is apparantly a permanant one. Madness in all respect….I am a mad person who has got a provan track record of being in madly with love with girls I know I would never get to see, to touch, to talk and so on…This is my flaw, and I seriously need to get over it. My ex girl friend said that she avoided me because I did not had a ‘pure’ friendship with her. If I know that saying hello to her in wee hours of morning can spell as disaster I am suffering from, I would have avoided it. I am going to avoid it all togather throughout my life. Never send a girl an sms that can spoil your party. Controversies are never comfortable…

    5. Even if sacrifice may turn to revenge, you may not see the face who would say ‘I love you, I will kill you, but I will love you forever’ (Sobs…Sobs…..Tears…Sniff) I didnt 😦 Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa…….

I will update this if my girl replies back to me, else think this as the end of this post (and my spoilt relation as well ) Hey Girl, dont mind, I will still continue loving you..Pure love knows no limits   😦   (Sic..Snifff…)

      @ Adi

Hi Adi. I met her. I apologized using all the words I knew till today, but she didnt like my new role of a jilted lover. I asked her if our relations would be right as they were earlier, she indirectly said ‘No.’ If this wasent enough, as per expectations, she informed me that shes getting married soon…I could do nothing more but nevertheless, I congratulated her. That was the only option I had, nothing more we can do. Relations are a crazy thing.

Age of Lonliness is bad enough, and someone telling you that you are lonly is more bad then ever….

I can’t agree more. Love hurts. Avoid relations that do not exist. Example – A fragile relation that occured during a meeting over in social networking tools like MySpace, Orkut, FaceBook etc. My last messy relationship started from Skype. And here I am now with my grief. *sob sob*
      Cheer up dude!

    Why! …

    I was childish and unfair
    To you, my only friend
I regret, but now it’s too late

    I can’t show you anymore
The things I’ve learned from you
Cause life just took you away

    And I’m asking why! …
    And I’m asking why! …
    Nobody gives an answer
    I’m just asking why

    But someday we’ll meet again
    And I’ll ask you

And I’ll ask you why! …
Why it has to be like this
    I’m asking you why
    Please give me an answer

    Many years and stupid fights
    Till we accept to see
How it was and it’ll always be

Why it has to be like this
    Why we don’t realize
Why we’re too blind to see the one
    Who’s always on our side

    And I’m asking why! …
    And I’m asking why! …
    Nobody gives an answer
    I’m just asking why

    Just tell me why! …
Why it has to be like this
    That the good ones disappear
    I’m asking you why

    And I’m asking why! …
    And I’m asking why! …
    Nobody gives an answer
    I’m just asking why

    And I’m asking why! …
