He is Yamaha’s new bike – Yamaha YZF-R15. Enjoy..

Slambook….after so many years, I remember this…I never got a chance to be in someones slambook, but it was something very hot in my school days. Usually, it was as self decorated book having different sections like we have on Orkut, except that we had to manually fill it in our own handwriting. Bad handwriting wasent allowed and the system was ultra secret. It was meant to be an exclusive girl-to-girl communication system. Boys werent allowed nearby, but I confess that I had once stolen a slambook out of pure curiosity, just to get details of what happens in there. It was luck, but peeping in someones property is equivalent of stealing…Later I meekly returned that book, the girl was shocked..!! She said – ‘Did you read this??’ I said – ‘No, why should I?’ I lied, I know, but I read everything, everything that was supposed to be a secret away from most of boys reach.

Some interesting stuff I remember was

1. The address and phone number – Every girl jotted down her phone number and postal address. In those days cellular phones were non existant and pagers were ultra cool. It was of no great use to me, I did not have a landline number, and the line I used for speaking would be heavily monitored. Besides, I was too lazy to move around on a cranky bicycle hunting for the girls address.

2. Likes – It was default that a girl likes ice cream and black forest. For a long time, I didnt know what black forest meant until someone fed me a delicious combination of chocolate, cake, coffee, ice cream, then I realized its a yummy thing…and since then, its my favourite till date.

3. Favourite colour – Insignificant detail, but pink was common..We dont have this on Orkut

4. Favourite film – Most of them mentioned Hollywood stuff. I wasent permitted to see any Hollywood film(officially) till I  became 18. Unofficially, I watched many Hollywood movies, and my parents dont know that Never knew why girls liked Tom Cruise. I liked his mission impossible 2 movie, because I was facinated by the bikes in it, not the heroine.

5. Every girl tried to decorate her slam content as good as possible. (I recall, my drawing belonged to the genre of Mr Pablo Picasso. Ultra Modern, abstract, and complex, my teacher once mocked me that you will be the next Picasso of India.She was rude..I didnt like that joke)

Today, I am riding on the messeges sent by Gods of Technology, as if I am from other galaxy, or an Almighty, but innocence is what I want. Those were the best days of my life…Sweet and innocent. Free from complexities of all this world..Todays kids arent so lucky..They have got everything, but the charm of a naive and raw life is unknown to them..Today we have got Orkut, Facebook, Myspace, theres even one online virtual site, but that beautiful handwritten slambook remains an eluded teen age dream…nostologia peheps..

Ducati motorcycles launched in India.

Ducati Motor Holding, worlds leading producer of racing-inspired motorcycles, announced the foray of its premium motorcycle segment into the Indian market on Wednesday.

Ducati has chosen Precision Motor India Private Limited as its Indian partner. On this occasion, Gabriele Del Torchio, CEO, Ducati announced the 2007 Moto GP World Champion manufacturer’s entry into the young and exponentially growing Indian market.

Over the next few months, a detailed launch strategy is to be developed by Ducati and Precision Motor India for India.

The vast opportunities prevalent in the Indian market have led Ducati to sign a long-term partnership agreement with Precision Motor India Private Limited as the exclusive importer of Ducati motorcycles in India.

Precision Motor India is an established company from a group which represents various major brands in India; including Porsche, Audi, NetJets, Fendi and Dolce&Gabbana.

Speaking on the occasion Gabriele Del Torchio, CEO, Ducati said, “We strongly believe that the fast growing Indian market is of a strategic importance to Ducati and we will do our best to consolidate our presence and to capitalize on the huge opportunities this country has to offer.”

Ashish Chordia, Chairman and CEO of Precision Motor India Private Limited said, “The passion that I have for this glorious marquee is both a source of pride and a stimulation to promote and develop Ducati’s entry into the Indian market. I am honoured by this partnership and I am sure that Ducati will also have a great future in this country.

Ducati founded in 1926, produces motorcycles in six market segments which vary in their technical and design features and intended customers: Superbike, Desmosedici RR, Monster, Multistrada, SportClassic and Hypermotard.

Yamaha kills competition, launches the topline sports bikes in India

Well, its time to rejoice…Finally after months of waiting, the fans of Yamaha in India are now presented a gift in form of this wonderful Yamaha MT ..This bike was launched in Delhi last night. Although the price isent clear, it will definately be a tad expensive then other bikes in India.

Yamaha Gladiator 165cc

Hmm…heres the picture of the new Yamaha Gladiator 165cc. Its Yamaha Indias answer to Bajaj Pulsar DTSi, TVS Apache and Hero Honda CBZ and Karizma. The Bajaj-Yamaha alliance was just a speculation I never wished to be true.

This bike will be available in mid 2007, but unfortunately, I cannot have this mean machine, as my current Yamaha is quite new..

Can Yamaha and Bajaj come togather in India?

After Kawasaki, could a Yamaha-Bajaj alliance be in the offering? While loss-ridden Yamaha doesn’t deny the possibility, it is giving the Indian market a last shot.Yamaha plans to put in another Rs 800 crore and may churn out a 250 cc bike at the next Auto Expo.In the pipeline, is to create a niche market in the 200 to 250 cc category. Yamaha is also exploring the possibility of hitting the market with high-end performance bikes.

Inpsite of six tough, loss-ridden years, Japan’s Yamaha refuses to exit India. Denying the reports, Yamaha’s new Managing Director, T Ishikawa, better known as the man who turned around Yamaha’s Thai operations says the company is in the process of realigning its India strategy.  He was quoted as  “When I joined in Thailand, things were just like what they are in India. Cost and features is what they looked at then i introduced unique models , created niche market. All we did was tried to sell lifestyle not just product.”

So, its official now, Yamaha is not exiting the Indian market. In fact, they have adopted a new startegy for Indian market – they are pumping in Rs 800 crore over the next four years and will ramp up the capacity from the existing 3 lakh units to 10 lakh units by 2010.

While Yamaha is giving India another shot, the market is abuzz with rumours of a possibility of a Bajaj – Yamaha alliance. While the company has not denied a possible tie-up, the timing may be bit premature.

The other company producing hi-end bikes in India is Hero Honda with its Karizma.

Look at the ヤマハ発動機株式会社 (Yamaha motor) logo.

I have to shell out Rs 75/- for getting the logo replaced. I am not liking this. All Yamaha users, please check the headlight logo on your Gladiator 125 cc or Libero G5 106 cc. The logo is likely to fall off if you try to drive your bike roughly.

I wish I could trade my current Yamaha with the RX-100. Dunno why they stopped manufacturing it?? That bike rocks..
